By Imam W. Deen Mohammed
Imam WD Mohammed:
And the sky He raised it up and He set up the balance of justice. So, what are we talking about? What is G-d talking about? It's plain. G-d's talking about the sky, the universe. He said He made it; He lifted it up like that and He set the balance. So, let's not lose the subject.
All right. So it says that G-d raised up the sky, the sky He raised up. Raised it up. What does that expression suggest to us, that the sky is raised up? Yes. The sky raised up; it rises to a dignified order. It's not nothing to take lightly. And We have set the balance of justice. Yes. And in revealing the Qur'an, Allah has made possible a higher order and a just order for us. So, the external world that G-d has created is a proof and a sign that the same G-d that built up the outside is also building the inside.
Because what He's doing inside it is nothing but a reflection of what He has done already outside. Why are we straining our mind when the truth is right there before our eyes plain as day and we are looking for something out there. It says that G-d keeps the balance. So what is this addressing? Now if the center is keeping the balance, then G-d is not talking about something, He's not raising up an issue that didn't exist. He's addressing an issue, an issue that exists.
So, who's been cheating the balance? Somebody's been cheating the balance. Somebody has been trying to alter the balance. And who is doing that? It is the devil man government and his high order. Don't you know that they have people on this earth now who are called his Highness? So, it says He raised it up high, He raised this order up high and they say "His Highness" and His Highness presides over an order, but his Highness does not give justice. So let not go out in the Twilight Zone. Let us stay home. Allah is addressing things that are at home. And we think it's out in the Twilight Zone. What else does it bring to mind? I mean major concerns of human beings, learned human beings don't look out in the Twilight Zone.
Now you know we are talking specifically about the verses I read over and over again. Not what goes before, although what goes before has a lot to do with it. Beginning with the verse "And the firmament that He raised high. And He has set up the balance of justice in order that you do not transgress due bounds. So, establish weight with justice and don't cheat the balance." Now is this entirely new terminology, the balance? Perceiving the external world of the skies and the universe as being in a balance.
Is that entirely new to you? Have you heard such terminology before? Raise your hand if you have and tell me. Yes. In science. If you had high school, elementary science, high school type, college science, you should have run into that terminology. They tell us in science that there's a universal balance. That everything in the universe is balanced The balance, the balance of the body. They're held in a balance called universal gravitation. And they tell us the balance of life. Life itself is held in a balance. In fact, if you keep up with the news, every so often they talk about the threat of all of this experimentation on the balance. The ozone balance, etc, etc.
And they talk about the killing of certain species, the ignorant destruction of certain plant life. They say this may upset the balance. So, they're talking about this now, but Allah gave us this 1400 years ago. So, you all look for small things. We should be looking for big things. The Qur'an is no small talk. I'm ashamed of some of you all. That's right. You call yourself Imams and you have nothing but small minds. You are thinking small, so small. If that's the kind of estimation you make of the Qur'an, you can't be no Imam. It's addressing the most important issues in the life of man, in the historical life of man. That's what we should understand first. And then apply it to your small life, your small existence. Excuse me for talking to you like that but you deserve it. Some of you come up with good knowledge. But very few, very few. Most of you are going way out in the dark region of your guesswork. Try to find something real first. First you find something real, then start feeling. Put your hand out and latch onto something first. A man feeling in the dark is feeling for something. He could be. He shouldn't just be feeling in the dark. He should be feeling for something. He should have an idea of what he's feeling for shouldn't he? Yeah. Now here's another example. The Qur'an says that Allah established the seven heavens. What is that addressing? What is that addressing? If you have an idea, you know have a good idea raise your hand.
Alright, we talked about three stage development. Now you talking about seven. But where does that idea come from that there are seven heavens? Is the Qur'an addressing something that was not even in existence? Or is it addressing something that was in existence? It's addressing something that was in existence. Now what is it addressing?
Speaker 1:
The seven processes of life?
Imam WD Mohammed:
Do you think the Qur'an is the only book that addresses the seven heavens?
Answer (Inaudible):

Imam WD Mohammed:
Yes. Seven is a very mystical number in Christianity and Judaism. But where does it stop?
Answer (Inaudible):

Imam WD Mohammed:
It says that "We created the heaven and the earth in seven days." And the Jews were told, G-d said, "Keep my Sabbath whole." What is Sabbath? Keep my Sabbath whole. That's what the Qur'an says. So, you want to understand what the Qur'an is saying. So, when you say seven you stay with what is known. Then you feel for the unknown. G-d created the heavens and the earth in six days and on the seventh day He rested the heavens and the earth. He completed it. According to the Old. And the Qur'an says also He created it in six days. Now the Western world has formed a seven day week has it not? And the main day of that week is Sunday. So, this is how you reason. You reason by going from known to known as long as you can. And when you can't go no more from known to known, then you try to go from the known to the unknown.
Does that make sense? I think so. Praise be to Allah. So if you study Qur'an like this, you're going to become wise. Now let's go back and look at the verses that come before this. These verses that I asked us to comment on. Bismillah Ar Rahma Nir Raheem. What is Rahman? The whole chapter will tell us what Rahman is. Don't go look up in your dictionary what Rahman is. And the very first thing it tells us about Ar Rahman is "Alamal Qur'an"-He taught the Qur'an. So whatever people have seen before this, the Qur'an, that resided in him, awe, gratitude, appreciation, merciful. After the Qur'an it will be the Qur'an that will inspire that kind of reaction in us. Because this does more for us than everything that came before it. While the world was in a stupor, stagnated in it's own backwardness, this book came and made possible the regeneration of a Prophet and brought the world to greater heights not before known in the world. You should never forget that. Before the Qur'an came, they had Jesus, G-d and the world was in bad shape. But when this book came, snapped mankind out of there stupor and gradually they began to move forward. And what they have done now is astounding progress due to the revelation of the Qur'an.
"Alamal Qur'an, Kalaqa Insan." Now according to the Bible the moon came first, then the sun. The lesser light came before the greater light. What is the Qur'an?
Answer (Inaudible)
Yes, we know that. That's plainly said all through the Qur'an. It's a completed revelation. Every book claim to the light, every book claim to be guidance. But does every book claim to be the completed revelation? What else is it? What else is it first of all? It's the completed revelation. What does that refer to?
Speaker 2:
A correction of previous scripture?
Imam WD Mohammed:
Right. It is a correction of previous scripture first of all. So that's what you should remember when you study Qur'an, when you're reading Qur'an. That the Qur'an came to correct what came before because of people trying to figure out what G-d was conveying through His Messengers rather than what was given to them by people who as the Qur'an says, "Write the book with their own hands." So it came to correct misconceptions that had crept into the books that came before it because of man's errors. That's what it means first of all. It came to put man back on the path and to complete the process of bringing man into his fullest expression.
And it also explains the symbolism and the parables contained in the Bible that they don't understand. It came because one man decide that savagery was too much of a burden. He said there must be something better. The sun had not dawned on the society of the savage. Prophet Muhammad knew that the world must have a way to offer him a better life than that. The beginning of his curiosity was the beginning of light. And then if he's a good man G-d will reward him as He did the Prophet. Rewarded him with revelation. Then he comes back to his dark, unformed world. And he becomes the Adam or the first man. That's the moon before the sun. And then in time the society becomes very productive. Very powerful, very enlightened. And it tells us that "He taught the Qur'an. And then He created man." In the beginning was the word. Before the world there was the word. So here is revelation, the enlightenment that G-d gives us, becoming the knowledge that brings man into civilization. Brings him to his human state. Before he got it, he was not in his human state. So here is the revelation, the word of G-d. G-d is the Creator. But by what rule? By His revelation. So we have a physical creation and we a human creation. And they both are done by one and the same G-d. One and the same Allah. And one speaks to the both of us. It speaks to the human condition.
