The Extremes of Life: Part 4
Imam W. Deen Mohammed

Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
With a few words, I can answer your question. Rivers flowing underneath, waters mean life, and waters are the life of human sentiments, and faith, F-A-I-T-H. And life begins with trust. If the infant come here not trusting his mother, the infant may die. So, faith is the beginning of life, and human feelings, sentiments, that's the beginning of life.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
G-d says that he began creation out of water, so that's the beginning of life for us. Is that our feelings have become pure, innocent and good, and our sentiments are alive and good. That's the beginning of life for us, and waters underneath which rivers flow, mean you don't have to have it revealed to you from the sky. It's already in your life that G-d creates.
Speaker 2:
Allah Akbar
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
How?
Speaker 2:
[inaudible 00:01:20].
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Obeying my mother
Questioner:
Is there a waiting period for a women who wants to get divorce.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
My question is, with a case of a woman's divorce, is there a waiting period ] according to the waiting period or giving period?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
When you're divorced?
Questioner:
In case of a woman's divorce.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
A woman's divorce.
Questioner:
A woman's divorce. When a woman wants to divorce, is there a waiting period?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yes. I believe that was what you were saying. Yes, when a woman wants to divorce, is there a waiting period? Well, that depends on whether the house is on fire or not. If the house is on fire, you run out, right run away. Yes, there's a waiting period. There is a waiting period. Yes. The waiting period for someone who wants to remarry is four months. Four months. The waiting period to... Pardon me, is three months. The waiting period is three months. Three months, yes. After three months, they could have a divorce. And normally if the woman shows that she's pregnant with life from the husband, she shows within three months. At the end of three months, it should be showing. So, that's (unclear). Life is in you. The sister have life from her husband. And sometimes the knowledge that you have life, new life in you, changes the husband and changes the wife, and you might decide not to get a divorce. That's to give you a chance to know if you're carrying life. That's the main reason.
Questioner:
Okay, and can you just say maybe there's another reason that something other than to see if the woman is pregnant. Can you talk a little bit about the importance of the waiting period, and how that could tie in with the getting of divorce.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yes, the most important thing about the waiting period is that you not get involved in any other male during the three months, not even sweet talk or sweet looks.
Questioner:
Thank you.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Thank you.
Questioner:
As Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatu Allah

Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yes. It's coming fine. We have a developer in the community at the mosque, Malcolm Shamar's Mosque. They have established a company. It's a big developer and they have built a lot of beautiful property in the New York area but they're building one now in Nashville and several other places. They are very big. They have a lot of help from outside the community with them. And they've told me that they think they'll get started even earlier than we expected fort them to get started. So we hope, we're looking to see it completed mid-June or earlier this year. Mid-June or earlier this year. And Allah blessed us to pay the taxes off. It takes a lot of money just to exist. Just to hold on and we're managing to hold on. We're going to hold on. We're never going to give up. We're going to see this through. We're going to see it produce to satisfy all of us.
Questioner:
That's [inaudible 00:11:56]. Is that what you're doing? I want to you to know that every prayer I say is not just [inaudible 00:12:06]. Every prayer I say is [inaudible 00:12:10]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Thank you.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:12:10]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Thank you my sister. Thank you very much. And I remember you and I'll remember you even more in my prayers. Allahu Akbar. Allah be with you always.
Questioner:

Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yeah. We know her very well. She used to work at the school when I was over there. On the stony island. Yeah. We all love her. She's a very beloved person in the community.
Questioner:
That's right. [inaudible 00:12:49] fundraiser after the election.[inaudible 00:13:07].
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
[inaudible 00:13:34] be nice. She's got a voice. Little sister [inaudible 00:13:37] when I work in the prisons. [inaudible 00:13:46] for a long time.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:13:48]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yeah. Muslima. I said muslima.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:13:58]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
She's not in the area, is she? She moved out of the area.
Questioner:
She's in Michigan. She got [inaudible 00:14:06]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
We miss her. Let her know we miss her.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:14:07]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
All right.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:14:08]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
And we hope you'll be there too.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:14:19]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
I don't think you are most of us really know that you have a beautiful voice. And I could listen to you sing for hours.
Questioner:
So what we've done, we've brought plans to [inaudible 00:14:42]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
All right.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:15:27]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Just get what you can. I like that. I like that. Thank you.
Questioner:
[foreign language 00:15:55]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
[foreign language 00:15:55]
Questioner:
Good to see you again.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Good to see you, my brother.
Questioner:
My question has to do with the campaign [inaudible 00:16:07] I am struggling to come back to what I see [inaudible 00:16:34] And I [inaudible 00:16:34] changes involved with [inaudible 00:16:34].
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
But you do know G-d will accept if you're just 50 and one faction.
Questioner:
Yes sir.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
If we have one fraction of 50%, G-d will accept you.
Questioner:
Yes, sir. [inaudible 00:17:07] on the right track. My question pertains to I have not informed [inaudible 00:17:16] the leaders of the church directly that I am Muslim. I am not embarrassed but [inaudible 00:17:21] because of how they attack me because I see them [inaudible 00:17:26] is so [inaudible 00:17:32]. I want to know as I do. I'm part of a [inaudible 00:17:40] community. I'm very active in this church [inaudible 00:03:34] walked away.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
You don't have to tell me all this, son. Muslim is nature.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:17:53]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
You're a good Christian. That's good.
Questioner:
So, what I want to know is should I bring [inaudible 00:18:06]. Should I try to bring more light into the eyes of some of these members of the community without being offensive? Do you you understand what-
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
I believe I do. Well, to really make a decision on that, to know what to do and make a decision, you have to change the percentage. You need 71% at least. Thank you brother. Allah be with you. [foreign language 00:18:58] my brother.
Questioner:
First of all, [inaudible 00:18:59] I work for the state of Wisconsin. There's [inaudible 00:19:51] listen to you saying how to [inaudible 00:19:51]. I believe I can get there. [inaudible 00:19:51] Wisconsin is [inaudible 00:19:51] There has been [inaudible 00:19:54] in the state of Wisconsin of what I think as an individual, I'm [inaudible 00:19:55]. There's no challenge for me. I need more. And I need to know where you stand what you think is [inaudible 00:20:22] Education is one of my top areas [inaudible 00:20:22].
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
What we'll do is have a meeting. So you need to contact our office and let them know when it's convenient when we'll be in town when I'm here and we'll sit down and speak together. All right.
Questioner:
Thank you.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
You're welcome [foreign language 00:20:48]
Questioner:
[foreign language 00:20:52]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
[foreign language00:20:52] My sister.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:20:54] I'll just give you the demographics of the school. Thursday they had a [inaudible 00:21:20] dinner sponsored by the local association of [inaudible 00:21:21]. There were about 150 [inaudible 00:21:32] there. And I was the only African-American woman. And I think there were maybe four African-American men. I don't know if they were even African-American. Have you done a lot of work with Muslims and other communities and people of [inaudible 00:22:04]?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yes. I know you're actually doing as much in situation that you're in with Catholics that you're in. That's very important.
Questioner:
However, I guess that just really brought to my attention that there needs to be an association of students that has support for African-Americans, especially in this community. There are some on campus [inaudible 00:22:31]. How do I go about doing that without seeming separatist? I can't really sit there and [inaudible 00:22:31] and say, "All African-Americans [inaudible 00:22:33]" The politics probably won't select me to try to get people [inaudible 00:22:35] in a way that doesn't seem [inaudible 00:22:35] or discriminative. And in the meantime, I did invite [inaudible 00:22:36] on campus and other campus in the Chicago area. But how do you suggest we give the information out to the people about current associations without seeming discriminatory and separatist?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Ah, understand. All right. There is no way to start a association on a campus where there is already an existing association without being made suspect. Yes. So, my suggestion would be to support the Muslim association that's already there. And try to influence more African-Americans to join.
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:24:01] The effort has been made by I and other African-Americans to get more involved have been, I want to say, I think [inaudible 00:24:27] It's just [inaudible 00:24:27] the next community [inaudible 00:24:27] some other time. It feels like a [inaudible 00:24:30] for people in charge and they're not really open to receiving.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Including
Questioner:
Including [inaudible 00:24:34]. They've been in existence [inaudible 00:24:34]. They're not really interested in changing. That was [inaudible 00:25:00].
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
I understand. It's clear to me. Sometimes, most of the time, when you have a situation like that, for the sake of not being misunderstood, it's best to sacrifice your desire until some better situation presents itself.
Questioner:
Thank you.
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
You're welcome.
Questioner:
[foreign language 00:25:43]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
[foreign language 00:25:48]
Questioner:
[inaudible 00:25:45] Mohammed [inaudible 00:25:49]
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
Yes.
Questioner:
And I've got your book here. [inaudible 00:25:51] is a success. How do we get into this book?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
I have one too.
Questioner:
Great [inaudible 00:26:06] this is America. We've been here for 400 years and we are still facing oppression all over America. So the [inaudible 00:26:20] certain areas [inaudible 00:26:27]. Puerto Ricans, Spanish, Italian, British, German, why can't we come together with you? Why can't we come together and move ourselves to the forefront? [inaudible 00:26:39] said the last thinks that the Black man should rise up. We should take control. When are we going to take control?
Imam W. Deen Mohammed:
