00:00: No alterations are necessary. And another unique thing that we wanna be aware of, today for this lecture, in our religion, is that our religion has done away with man's injections, man's input into what God revealed, that he made on his own without being actually a prophet or a messenger of God. Our religion has done away with that. So our religion doesn't tell you how to hold your spoon when you eat. Our religion doesn't tell the mother to pick up the baby when she's crying. Our religion won't tell you how to set up a halal poultry market. Our religion go into those small things that common sense should make possible for us. Our religion deals with the big problems of man, his inability to gain a satisfying perception; first, on his idea of God, or the way he should live, in order to please his Lord. Secondly, on himself. What should he be? How is he to see himself? What should his role be in life? What should his role be on this Earth? What should he be doing? Where should be his emphasis on priorities before him? Where should the emphasis be on those priorities?

01:44: These are concerns that the Quran take up mainly, and not the small things. Because we do need God's guidance in how to conduct moral activities, or activities respecting the moral factor, or the moral determinant in matters. We need help. We need Allah's help for that. Now not to say that we don't need Allah's help for everything, certainly we do. But we understand that we believe that Allah helped us already. He helped us already by making us what we are. This is a powerful and productive machine that Allah made. So we believe that Allah helped us already if we make best use of what he has given us already. And the additional help that we need, beyond our means, is that help that we need when we reach our limitations as human beings, and those limitations depend upon the circumstances we're in, circumstances that make us ill-prepared or well-prepared for the life that our Lord created for us, or intended for us. And in terrible circumstances Allah comes in and he gives us help that common sense would be the substitute for, that help could come from common sense, or be found in common sense, if circumstances weren't so severe, if circumstances weren't so severe, you see?

03:22: So, we had the prophet. The prophet, he dealt with a lot of issues that were not necessary to be in the Quran, because they were issues that the common man, common sense could address. And the prophet addressed those from his ability as the most excellent common sense man that our law made, the most excellent behaving man that Allah made, the most excellent human man that Allah made, in the sense of the need of a human being to manage the whole possibilities for him on this earth; life in the home, life in the public, life in business, life in government, life in the military, life as the chief-executive over the military. Our prophet, he performed all those roles, private citizen and also private man in the home, husband, wife, children. He showed us. He demonstrated. He didn't only teach us, but he demonstrated how we are to live the total life.

04:37: So, these are the emphasis that we want to see today as we go on to present this topic, this subject. Most important, most important for us, is to know that this religion saves mans natural life, natural life. This religion values man's natural life and makes that its focus the care and preservation of that natural life. We believe that Allah intended first for us the natural life, and whatever he gives us afterward as revelation and guidance, it is only a complement to that natural life. It is not in conflict with that natural life. It is not in any way negating the natural life. So there are many concepts in religion, which is a topic we're dealing with first. There are many concepts in religion that present great problems for us, but we know the intent in the major religion is good, and from God. We know that the spirit of the Christian people on the whole is good and is the effect of their receiving guidance from God, Jesus Christ, the Christ prophet, and the Gospel or the Injil as Muslims call it. We know that they're good spirit, and a good life is a direct result of that, and they are the product of God's word. They are the product of God's words just as we are, and just as the Jews are.

06:33: We know that the Jews, to the extent that they obey the purity in their teachings from the Moses and from their prophets, from our prophets too, their prophets are our prophets, that they too will have a life that God intended for them that's spirited, will be the spirit born of God's word. So while we recognize this, for the major religions, and believe me, we recognize if excellence and goodness that God created or proved in all religions, not just these that we're referring to right now. And while we don't accept what they have on the whole, or in its entirety, we respect all religions that respect truth and creator, or creator and truth maybe I should say. Yes. The reason why we find this religion attracting: Common people, "small people", and I put small people in quotes because I don't buy that. Any time anybody responds to something so big, they can't be small.

07:55: But you know, people are, "No, how come just the ordinary, poor, average, blacks, down and out blacks, or African-American. Blacks should always be in quotes, because I don't buy that either. I don't buy what it is doing to us as an identity, as a label or as an identity. They wonder how come they are turning their attention to this religion? Well look, it happened before. Our prophet, peace and blessings be on Muhammad, he didn't say that he was a prophet to the Arabs. He didn't say that he was a messenger of God to the Arabs, or the last prophet of Allah to the Arabs. He said what Allah revealed, that he's a messenger to all, and that he is a mercy to all the worlds. Allah says of him in the Quran, that you are sufficient enough, you're enough. Whatever the people want, you are sufficient. You are enough for all people, for all people. This is in the Quran.

09:02: So the prophet never allowed himself to be taken out of the role that Allah put him in. To be taken out of the identities that Allah put him in as a messenger of God as the last prophet. He addressed all people. He attended the needs of all people. He carried the message to all people, and for all people. And the result was, that the religion quickly spread from his hometown, Mecca, and from his home peninsula, of what is called Arabia now. It wasn't called Arabia at that time. It wasn't called Saudi Arabia. It had another name. The present ruling order there, they're the first one, King Saud Abdulaziz. He was the one that did so much for them to bring them back to the straight path and the right way of the religion, that they honored him so much to name the land after him. So, it was called Saud after King Saud. It's called Saudi, and Arabs, Saudi Arabia.

10:10: So now, I know some of us, we looked... We got the dictionary, and we looked up Saud. "Black, it means black. Saud means black. Black Arabia, brother. That's ours, that's us, brother."

10:26: You know, we trip, we start tripping and get on some high. We're gone out of space. You know, I didn't say out into space. I said out of space.

10:37: Yeah. And many of us are innocent, you know, and I understand why we write that. I love brothers like that too. I just wanna talk to them a little while.

10:47: 'Cause they're be great people for the religion in the future. And that's why I'm happy to know that... Elijah Muhammad's book, "Message To The Blackman," is selling out here. I just recently been told, that it's one of the best sellers out here on the East Coast, Message To the Blackman." That is wonderful. I like that. I just want a chance to talk to you for a little while sometime, alright?

11:10: That's great. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad is the most significant man in my life other than the prophet, the Quran, the Allah, the prophet of the Quran. Elijah Muhammad had been the most and significant factor in my life, and I know that I could not have possibly come into this role and this development and this role that I'm now in had I not been the son of Elijah Muhammad, Clara Muhammad.

11:51: Because they endeared me to the best. They made me love the best, and they endeared me to you, and then endeared you to me. Without that, it wouldn't be. And that came from God. God intended that, Allah intended that.

12:17: I'm not saying that I'm anything other than what I am. I'm no messenger. I'm no prophet. I don't have anything, any title. I'm not worth of any title above the one that any of you all too have. If you can't wear it, I can't wear it. I know my circumstances. And I know some of you, you care so much about my father, you care so much about me as his son, that you don't like to hear that. You like to hear that I got something that nobody else can get. Or maybe so, they can't get the circumstances that I've got, 'cause that's gone, that's passed. They can't be born while I was being Muhammad's son Elijah Muhammad, but that's gone. That came in 1930. October 30th, it's over.

13:06: But as far as our properties, and our ability, our capacity, same that's open to me, is open for everybody else. And as far as what I can achieve, if I can achieve it, you can achieve. That's right. And believe me, I feel very good over, so many of you now, being able to represent this religion without worrying the hell out of me.

13:41: Now let me explain what I mean. They understand. They understand. Co-workers understand. I wanna explain to all of you so you know exactly what I'm talking about. Do you know what I mean when I say, "Worry the hell out of me, what worries the hell out of me"? When they put all their responsibility on me that they can't face the people with. I think I've said enough.

14:10: Yeah, all their shortcomings before the people, they're still accepted the responsibility for it, when you're waiting around on Imam. The Imam had to tell us these things. "Man, we can't move until the Imam tell us." Well, W. Muhammad said, Imam W. Muhammad said, "Such and such and that's it." They can't do that anymore, not and get away with it.
