The Call to Life Los Angeles CA Convention Center

By Imam W. Deen Mohammed
This is the national public broadcast of IWDM, Muslim American Society Leader. The following khutbah or sermon titled "The Call to Life" was recorded Friday, February the 15th, the year 2002 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California. The khateeb our teacher is Imam IWDM. And now Imam Mohammed.
[...] We praise G-d, the one and only Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has no associates in the rule over the heavens and the earth. He is G-d alone. And we witness that Muhammad to whom the Qur'an was revealed is his servant and his messenger. The prayers and the peace be upon him. The day in the life of the Muslims it begins with adhan. However, we know that this was not established until better than 10 years after Muhammad the prophet, peace be upon him, had been introducing the religion of G-d for mankind to the people of Arabia who were worshipers for the most part of idols, false G-ds. When he went to the city of Medina on the invitation of the people of Medina, whose hearts were heavy, knowing that this wonderful leader for mankind was persecuted in his own city ...
And denied the freedom of religion that Allah had missioned him to promote and establish. So, they said to him, "Why do you continue to stay with these people? Why don't you come to Medina? And you will have a place there to do your work, to establish what you are trying to establish." He finally accepted as you know, and then began the establishment of the ummah, the Muslim community. The first Muslim community in the history of the world established in Medina, and it was a complete community life. All the needs of man, and woman, and family in community was taken care of there in Medina. Education, preaching of the religion, of course, which is number one with our education. And, by the way, preaching of religion, if we follow Muhammad, the great leader of mankind, is also education. It's also education.
And also, business. Business concerns were addressed there, and an order, a model for the whole of mankind was established there, so we would know how G-d wants us established in society, and how G-d wants that society to form and serve Him through service to all people. The adhan, it is said of the adhan in reports on Muhammad's life, peace be upon him and his early followers. It is said that persons came to him, two I recall at least, and one told him said, "I have seen something in a dream," and he shared it with the prophet and the prophet was interested in this. Another person also reported that he had similar dream. And the prophet established that we should have adhan. That did not come as Qur'an and some other communications that Muhammad received from G-d that are not written in the Qur'an.
It came to two of his followers, and his followers brought it to his attention, and then he said that yes, this must be from G-d. And he established that we should have the adhan. Now adhan comes from the word [Arabic] means ear. [Arabic] my ear, [Arabic] my right ear, [Arabic] my left ear, [Arabic], ear. And adhan means attention with the ear with your hearing. Whatever we have in our religion from Muhammad, the servant and messenger of G-d, has a connection with something that came to the people of the book. We read in the scriptures given to the people of the book, "Blessed is he that has an ear." We read also in the book, "Heed ye the word of the Lord and live."
Heed means pay attention, and if I want to say to you all, "Pay attention," I would say, [Arabic], or for many of you [Arabic], pay attention with your ears. "Heed ye the word of the Lord and live." Then here comes the adhan that says, "[Arabic]," and I read in Proverbs lonesome fella searching, trying to get out of darkness, before I came to see the full light that I was blessed with when I studied the Qur'an in connection with what I had been given before. I read in Proverbs where it says ... I can give it in Arabic now, because Elijah Muhammad provided us with a good Arabic teacher when I was a young man in high school. I can give it in Arabic now. In Proverbs it says, "A living dog is better than a dead lion." [Arabic].
Yes. So, the call to prayer is really a call to life. And, if you understand how Muhammad the prophet came in the chain of prophets and prophecy, to fulfill it and complete it and guide us into the universal world of true life that Allah our creator wants for us. If you understand that, then you understand also Muhammad saying that G-d sent builders; messengers, prophets, builders to build a house, and each one made his contribution to that house, but one stone was missing and it made the worshipers sad. All down to the history of the religious people, it made them sad that no one was able yet or had missioned the mission yet to put that last stone in the building to complete the building. And Muhammad said he is the one that G-d chose to put that last stone in the building of the house. G-d said that it is the most ancient of the houses built to the worship of G-d for all people. [Arabic]. This is in the Qur'an.
The adhan, paying attention. I remember as a young man in the Fruit of Islam, and the first thing they would say to us, "Fruit attention!" I remember too receiving the student enrollment. The student enrollment. Everybody that became a member of the Nation of Islam had to get a student's enrollment and learn it, and be able to pass the examination. That tells us that the designer of that Nation of Islam called the Lost Found Nation of Islam In The Wilderness of North America. He intended that all members; male and female, be students. The creation of man in Islam, Islam is the original pattern for human nature. The pattern upon which the human race or the humanity was formed or originated. This is from Qur'an. And we are to understand that G-d created our life for all of us when He created the first man, our first father, Adam. Peace be upon Adam.
The adhan calls to life. The word for call is taken from the word meaning life, [Arabic]. We know that scripture given to the people of the book says, "The word of G-d is life," and deviation or departing from it, is death. Sin is death. Elijah Muhammad, he saw himself as a messenger of his savior, the same one he called his savior he said made him also his messenger. He saw his savior also as his sender, who sent him as a messenger to us. The poor lost African Americans that we were told were once connected with Islam, and had a life as Muslims in a Muslim environment or society. He wanted to restore the lost found back to their own people and back to their own life. Elijah Muhammad. But Elijah Muhammad was also like Elijah in the Bible. He was given language that would heal the wounds of the ex-slaves.
He was given a language that would even heal the psyche of the ex-slaves, and give them back again, or prepare them at least to be in a condition to receive again their original mind. The one who came for us as a savior, I repeat, he said, "24 scientists met in the root of civilization concerning the lost found nation. They must return to their own. So, they sent a messenger to them to teach them." He said, "Now the teacher has worked for three and a half years and his accomplishment is five times five, approximately 25,000. And Muhammad said, "Use five before five undo you." Genesis said that the man was created on the sixth day, so there was five days of a world existing before the man was even created. And there was a woman washing at a pool or well, and Jesus saw her and he said, "Woman, I see you have five husbands over you, and the one you have is not yours."
And Muhammad said, prayers and peace be on him, that Adam, the first man was created on a pattern of 60 arm stands. He said, "No one lives or is resurrected from death, except on a pattern of Adam." He also said, prayers and peace be on prophet Muhammad, the last of the prophets, he said, "No one of the descendants of Adam have enjoyed a meal more than the meal that he earned himself." That tells me that it is in my own creative matter and life to want the dignity of not having to beg others for bread. Allah created human beings to be free, and He created them in the natural life mold on the sixth day to be free. But the Satan seduced man out of the dress of life that his G-d had put him in when he created him. So, we had to be again brought back to the life that G-d intended for us. I don't think the second man had only six days for his creation.
I think he had eight, but the eight was as though it was only six. Yes. Eight. Man had to be educated in his mind. G-d had put it in his nature to evolve, to grow, to develop, to use all of his properties that G-d had created him with and for, but the Satan made him slip according to the word of G-d, to Muhammad and the Qur'an and to us, out of the dress that G-d had put him in. Then G-d had to educate his mind. Muhammad is a rebirth. Muhammad is a regeneration. G-d says that He is the one who taught the Qur'an [Arabic]. He taught the Qur'an. [Arabic], and created the human being. So, here is the creation that is a higher creation than the creation of the mortal being in his flesh and blood and bones, etcetera. Here is the creation of the soul, spirit, intellect.
The whole abstract person is being created now to live in the animal vessel that is designed to carry a human being. G-d says that He told Muhammad to read, and after a while, Muhammad was able to read. Muhammad received the whole book of reading, and the whole book is called reading. [Arabic] from [Arabic], which means to read. Al-Qur'an. The whole book is called Al-Qur'an, that which is to be read and recited, and taught, but you have to read it first. And we find that one of the worst problems we have for this great advanced, marvelously, miraculously advanced society we call the Western and America in technology, in the objective sciences, etcetera, has so much advancement. It's marvelous and frightening even sometimes. But look at the terrible problem of literacy we have in some of our major cities.
Not to mention the back woods in these modern times. The issue, the most serious issue today is literacy. To keep civilization going forward and being unnecessarily burdened we need more of our citizens to become literate, and be more responsible for managing their life in a highly complex, modern world, modern society. G-d has already told us what we're going to need, more important than anything else. When he told Muhammad, His first word during His revelation, He didn't say, "Muhammad, I'm the Lord." He didn't say, "Muhammad, my name is Allah." He said to him, "Read." First word, didn't even tell him where he was coming from. Didn't even tell him who was speaking. He said, "Read," then he told him who was speaking. "In the name of your Lord," but not just any lord, not the lord of Israel, not just any lord, not the lord of London, not just any Lord, the Lord that created the heaven and the earth and everything there is.
He told him, "You Muhammad, read in the name of your Lord who created." How many ways there are to know our G-d, our [Arabic]. The one who created us is the one we should try to know. That's the G-d you want to know. G-d the Creator. Isn't that what G-d told Moses? When He introduced Himself to Moses, He introduced Himself as the Creator. The one who gave us our human creation and gave us our inherent equality with all other human beings, made the same way. G-d has not made one inferior to the other, and G-d has not made one for more honor or more respect than the other. He says, [Arabic], "We have certainly honored the children of Adam." All of us have been given the same inherent honor. He has created us to have creative forces within ourselves.
He says of himself, he says that He is the best of creators. G-d is telling us that He is the Creator above all, but He also created some to be creators. And they say of the African American, the black man in America, of the African Americans that we can produce babies, but not much more. That we are not creators. We're great wood carvers, long time ago in Africa, we were great masons, great builders, great men of art and sciences, but we lost it all. We lost it. But we are becoming creators again. Praise be to Allah [Arabic]. We are created for education, higher learning. And sometimes the world will take a whole people and separate them from the favors of G-d and deny them opportunities to develop themselves, and grow with other free men, people in society. This is mentioned too, in the book that came before, says, "When a man robbed G-d, yet you robbed me." G-d speaking, "Yet you robbed me this whole people."
We know that when Muhammad came with the revelation from G-d to start civilization over again for the world, the world was under darkness. The world was in darkness and under darkness. Muhammad came to tell us that false worship is the worst of all oppression [Arabic]. "Surely false worship is the most powerful or worst form of oppression." G-d didn't want us enslaved in darkness or in corruption, and G-d gave us as he gave Moses and those before Moses, gave us a leader. To lead us out of the darkness into the light, out of corruption into a society respecting moral decency, ethics, purity for its society. G-d says He is the one who created man, and then established the equality for man. [Arabic]. Then he empowered man, [Arabic], empowered man, [Arabic] and thereafter, guided him.
He says that He has given every creature its needs in four measures. He created them to be successful. Then he established them to seek equality for their common excellent human essence. Then he also created them with the capacity to receive His spirit. He said to the angels that didn't want to accept to honor the man that G-d was going to create to be responsible in the earth for his environment. He said to them, "Wait until I have given him of my own [Arabic] of my own spirit, then you submit to him." He also created every man, not one man, every man and woman to have a capacity to receive G-d's spirit. Now that's not the holy ghost. There's a difference between the spirit of G-d in Islam and the holy ghost in some churches.
It's certainly not the holy ghost in some of those churches that I visited, because they talk in tongues that I can't understand. And I think Paul had a problem with that in the Bible. He wanted to understand what they was talking about too. We are called to come to life. The life that G-d created us for when he created the first man, the community life. One of the learned Imams in Islam at one of the meetings that I was in with leaders abroad, he said to me, he said, "You know, Imam Mohammed, Abraham was a community," and he just left it right there. I took it where he wanted me to take it, I believe Muhammad is a community, and Jesus Christ as a sign is also a community. Both of them used similar language when they said Jesus Christ said, according to the gospel. We don't take the Bible to be accurate in every place or reading, so I'm not offering you this for you to just stand upon it and go on and take it and run with it now.
We are just saying what's in the Bible, that's not our book. Our book is the Qur'an. We take what's in the Qur'an and run with it. We take what's in the Bible and look at it and then put it down. All right. It says in the Bible [...] relationship to his followers and their relationship to him. He said, "And I in you, and you in me." Then Muhammad was told by G-d to say, G-d said to Muhammad, He said, "Muhammad say to them, I am a mortal being like you are." What does that tell us? If we see it as a progression, it was said of Jesus Christ and the people before, it was said again in the day of Islam to Muhammad. How do we understand this? We understand that the clarity is given by G-d to Muhammad. That is also clarity for the relationship of Jesus Christ to a people.
That Jesus Christ was a mortal human being just like all other mortals. He had no divinity as a human being that made his human form different from ours. The only difference was that he had a spirit in him from G-d that he obeyed in his mortal life, conformed as G-d wanted it to conform to the will and the spirit of G-d. And Muhammad also had lived even without G-d revealing anything to him for 40 years, and he had retained the fresh purity, the mortal innocence that G-d created for all human beings. Therefore G-d selected him from among his fellow citizens and selected him to be a messenger to all people, and then told him, "I know that they will think you are something above a human being too, because you are going to do marvelous things. Tell them, "I am a human mortal like you are."" [Arabic] Like you are. [Arabic] "I am a human person or a human mortal like you are."
All of you, [Arabic], like all of you. He didn't say like Peter, he didn't say like Paul, because maybe that would confuse the people too. He says, "Like you, human beings." Muhammad was a human being coming to correct what was said of Jesus Christ in error after G-d had revealed to him the plain truth. They then saw him and perceived him incorrectly, and took centuries discussing it before they could come up with an agreement to publish what they concluded on. Then they were still not without a unanimous decision. There were many who didn't agree with their portrayal of Jesus Christ as G-d and man. I'm still talking about what I started out talking about, the human being in the form, in the excellent created form for your freedom and for your prosperity.
When Muhammad said, "And none will rise or go up, except on that pattern that he gave Adam," he is saying that you won't have prosperity, you won't have happiness, you won't have prosperity, until you conform to the pattern of life that G-d created Adam. I got all these notes and I don't need any of them, because this has been my subject for over 50 years. Praise be to Allah. Now, the Bible says something similar, "No one has risen to heaven, except him who was in heaven already." Islam is the true freedom, and Allah brings us to this true trait of freedom by telling us that we were created to be His slaves. But a slave of G-d, if he is not a fanatic or not a drunkard, drinking the wine of revelation and not understanding the plain teachings, if he is not confused, slavery under G-d is your maximum freedom.
Slavery to your Creator is your maximum freedom. It's the true freedom. It's the freedom of your heart and soul that G-d gave you. Want, is the true freedom. How a strategy revealed to a mortal among us in his human excellence before he got revelation broke slavery, broke the grip of slavery. G-d addressed all of us as the [Arabic] of G-d. [Arabic]. Here, all human beings, especially the men, all human beings being called by G-d, being addressed by G-d as the slaves of G-d. Bilal heard that and he refused to go anymore being a slave of a man. He refused to obey his master, and his master tortured him to get him to conform and go back to his slavish behavior he had before, and Bilal would rather die than do that.
He had not even been free to connect with the followers of Muhammad, not to mention, to greet Muhammad and see Muhammad and shake his hand, or embrace him. And he already just upon hearing some words that G-d had revealed to Muhammad, he was already ready to be tortured and die than say, "G-d are these false G-ds of my slave master." He said, "One G-d," Muhammad had given the revelation [Arabic], "Say that He, the G-d is one alone, no other G-d with him." Wasn't that Genesis? Wasn't that the message given to Moses for his people? Same message. But when we study this language that I'm addressing right now on the creation in scripture covered by mysticism, covered by symbolism, covered in metaphors, etcetera.
When we address this nature of man that G-d created him in and for, we come to see that
G-d is not only man's Creator, but G-d is also man's teacher. His teacher. One of the sayings of Muhammad the prophet addressing what's going to happen in the end of time, he says that G-d shall teach a person Himself and He will be the [Arabic] teacher, learned teacher. But he will not be taught by the world, he will not have to go to these schools of theology, or to the seminaries, or to certain [Arabic] searching and trying to find what his brain wants. G-d will teach him Himself, and G-d have already proven to the whole world that He can take a man and teach him Himself and qualify him to be not only over men in spiritual matters, but be over men in worldly matters.
He made Muhammad the leader of a new people, a new society, a new international community, a new global community of followers who have lands, and nations, and cultures, and industry, governments, etcetera. That all came with Muhammad's message, with his life and his message to the world. From him came industry, governments, new nations. When
G-d created Adam according to Genesis, though Adam was deceived by Satan, that building block from his sons came iron smiths, metal workers, industrial people. As a result, we have this great world of material progress and interest in higher education. Science and technology all came from the original man. My Lord, I'm getting light. Can you all put some weights on my feet? I don't want to go up there. I might float right up there and never [...]
Where are you to help me, please? [...] Your teacher wants to hear your response, wants to hear from you at once. He wants to put you in heaven. You were created to be in heaven and the world deceived you. Now he wants to put you in heaven. He wants you to have good homes, plenty money, friendships in all walks of life. Now understand He said walks of life, so brother if you're in the drug business, that's the walk of death. If you're in the prostitute business, that's the walk of death. If you're in the falsehood business lying behind the pulpit, that's the walk of death, etcetera. [Arabic] come to prayer [Arabic] come to prayer. But here G-d has revealed a whole book to be prayer, so when we come to prayer, we come to the reading and reciting of Qur'an.
The Imam is not permitted to come up with his own thinking, with his own prayer, with his own du'a while he is leading us in formal prayer, the salat. G-d has established a salat for us that is reading. Reading a whole book, and He says in the book of the people of the book that, "Cast your bread on the water. Have faith to put your bread on the water. Have faith to put your precious knowledge on the water, on the faith of common man, and it'll come back to you. Another saying of the people of the book, that Christ Jesus observed that there was a good man, a Samaritan. And he noticed that people walking down the road knew this man needed help, down and out in the road. Couldn't even stand up. Couldn't get up on his feet.
Some of them passed right by him, hardened, not sympathetic at all. No sympathy in their hearts at all, passed right by him, stepped around him, stepped over him. But he noticed some others when they knew they were coming close to where this poor creature was, they chose to walk on the other side of the road so they wouldn't have to see him up close. It bothered their conscience and their hearts, but along came the good Samaritan and he saw him and he stopped. He was in a hurry; he had a mission. He was on an errand, he was on a mission himself, but he stopped and didn't have time to stay with this poor victim of society to see that he was taken care of and had all his needs restored to him, or taken care of. He charged others to take him to an end.
Now, I know in the Bible it's I-N or I-N-N, but I'm giving it to you E-N-D, take him to an end and care for him. Take to his destination that G-d created for him. Take him to the destination for his human life that G-d created him. Take him on the road of personal development that G-d created for him, until he's established in his own social contract. And respects his brother, and respects his parents, and respects his G-d who created him, and respects his order, his calling to be a community builder, to be a society builder. And even though he's not ready to lead it, when you wake that up in his soul, when you wake that up in the person, he's ready to join leaders that he sees ready to do that. Praise be to Allah. He said, "Take him to an end, then care for him, and when I return, I will repay you amply.
Mr. Farad saw that. He saw that in the book and he said, "I'm going to do that for these people." And he came and he said, Muhammad, Elijah, called him Karim sometimes, meaning honorable and generous. He said, "We're going to build this temple. We're going to build this house, and I want you to keep them in it. Don't let them mix with others outside. Keep them in it. And when I return, I'm going to amply reward you. It's going to cost a little bit. This white world if they don't mistreat you and let you live your life, you can come to your destination. I'll return and even reward them for not being mean to you, for not depriving them of your life that your nation seeks." Look how our life that denounced this whole white world as the world of devils, who couldn't help it because they were inherently evil, have changed and moved forward with human development that G-d created us for.
We have moved forward to get their admiration and respect. Now the biggest gift that America can get and the West too, is to embrace Islam and respect it and not go against it and let it thrive in the West. Because if you do, it's going to amply reward you. Praise be to Allah. We thank our G-d who has given us back our good senses. We thank our G-d who has put us back in our real life, and connected us with all the wonderful connections that can make our life more beautiful and more productive. Those vital connections created by our Creator. In my conclusion for this part of the khutbah, brothers, students, thinkers, when you turn toward the Kaaba, know that you are turning toward a symbol, a sign. A symbol, a sign that holds the message that I have just given you in this khutbah and much more.
A universal sign, a universal symbol with message to help us establish the universal life that G-d wants all human beings in, regardless of their nationality, their color, etcetera. [Arabic]. And he says to let you know that He's not in that house, your nature is in that house. Your nature that He created for you can unite the whole world of mankind in one great sanctuary created by G-d for man. How does he tell us He's not in that house? He says, "And wherever you are turn your faces to this house." But also, he says, "But regardless to the direction you turn, you're going to see my face." Anyway, that you choose to turn, there you will find the face of G-d, but don't seek to see it with those eyes that grow to have problems like mine. And you have to put on glasses to see what you used to see when you were younger up close.
There's another eye inside of you. It's singular it's not two. It can see the face of your Lord. Praise be to Allah. We are very happy to be here today, and we pray to Allah that He bless Muhammad. Oh Allah, bless Muhammad as you blessed Abraham, and bless the followers of Muhammad as you blessed the followers of Abraham. And we ask Allah to make Muhammad and his followers successful as he made the followers of Abraham and the followers of Abraham successful. Truly he's praised and magnified. [Arabic]. Dear believers, we were taught to pray to the Creator of the heavens and earth, while we at the same time taught not to believe in anything except the objective material world and man.
We were taught two teachings. And the one who taught us this used one as a strategy to attract us, because he knew that religion we were under was really oppression. That it kept our pockets empty, it kept our neighborhoods in bad repair. It kept our men drunk and kept our women serving the white community and not the black community. All but a few of them, very few. Left our communities in bad shape. Here is a man coming, he wants to resurrect not only an individual black man, but he wants to resurrect black neighborhoods. He's coming from the Qur'an, he's empowered with the Qur'an wherein G-d says, giving us a parable of another resurrection. He said in that town, the likeness of it is a town where the place is neglected and the roofs are caving in, but for it is a resurrection.
Telling us that when we find neighborhoods or communities and towns neglected, their homes neglected, their structures ruined, their structures not appreciated, their roofs caving in, signs of the abandoned, etcetera. Windows boarded up and doors boarded up, G-d is telling us in the Qur'an that we have to rise up to the challenge and we have to bring new life, a Renaissance, a resurrection to that neglected dead town. We are not just dead as individuals, or mentally dead as individuals, we were mentally dead as a community. We were mentally dead as a people. We were mentally dead as neighborhoods. Many of us still are mentally dead as neighborhoods, but we got the light now and we got the way to resurrect not only people, but to resurrect buildings and neighborhoods.
We are going to do it because that's our obligation too. Allah has not put us here just to treat and treat and work only to establish a man in spiritual life. G-d has obligated us to establish our community life. He says, [Arabic], "You are the best, the most useful, the most beneficial of communities. You have been brought out of darkness and corruption. You have been evolved for the benefit of all good people." That's enough for me. I don't need any stimulant. That's strong enough for me. I got enough motivation to take over the world in the name of G-d, not for me, but for human life and G-d. Yes, but it ain't necessary. It ain't necessary. The world is not as backward as it used to be. The world is not as ignorant as it used to be. The world is not even as uncivilized as it used to be.
The world has grown in great knowledge, but they have let the Satan design the world. G-d said to Muhammad said ... pardon me. He told Jibril he told Muhammad through Jibril, the angel, He said, "Let me show you my creation, Jibril, Gabriel," and He showed it to Gabriel. Gabriel said, "My Lord, you know ..." Gabriel talked like poor people. Gabriel said, "My Lord," just whenever poor people are hit with something heavy, "My Lord." Gabriel said, "My Lord in a world like this how does anybody go wrong?" Then G-d with His great power to do so, he immediately instantly showed him the picture of the world after Satan had his way with it. And poor Jibril, he said, "My Lord, how can anybody go straight, be right in such a crooked world?"
We have let the Satan take over everything, and some of us think that we can find Satan in a person. Some people of the church thought they could identify Satan and they identified Satan as the Pope. Yeah, they did. They thought the Pope was Satan, and in Jesus time many thought Christ Jesus was Satan. At least they thought it. Now, how are we to deal with this big problem? Satan ruling in the public life, and if he rules in the public life, he's going to rule in the private life of those who don't have the intelligence to deal with the big problem of Satan in the public life. If they're not already protected by a very special knowledge revealed to man from G-d, then that public life comes in and takes over that private life. Comes right by the way of TV, radio records, entertainment records, etcetera, and other things.
It comes right into the house and takes them over too. Satan, he has most of the world. How are we going to get it back? We're not going to get it back by looking for a person that ... Satan is not John Paul II, I met with him. He ain't that heavy. He's heavy, but he ain't that heavy. That ain't Satan. I met with some of the other personalities that people thought was the devil, and they ain't that heavy. They ain't that heavy. Allah knows that we little mortals, human beings, that we have not the power to deal with Satan on our own. Don't even try it. G-d already made your first father, and He put him in the most excellent mold. He gave him everything that he could give any other human being. All we can do is inherit from our father what He deposited into our father.
Don't think you're going to get more than what he created Adam with, your brain to know better Adam's brain, same brain, and his was protected by G-d and G-d created it. G-d made it above ours, he had it direct up from G-d, his brain, and Satan still got him. Made him slip out of the dress or out of the form of social life, community life that G-d had created him to be in. Yes. Don't try it. G-d wants us to know how to deal with him and fight the schemes of Satan for his schemes are weak. I was in prison for refusing to accept to go to the war, and the Jehovah Witnesses were locked up too, because they were conscientious objectors. They wouldn't go to the war either. There was one preacher in jail with me, and he was always trying to get me. I guess he thought that while he was in jail maybe I can get him to come to Christianity. They were always working on me.
Here I am a man. I got enough problems, just married to a fine black woman and can't get to her. They locked me up right after I married her. I don't want to be a bothered with that man. I had no interest in teaching him or preaching to him. I had enough problem to hold me for the rest of my three years that they gave me for sure. He made me a little mad and I'm a very hard man to get upset. I start picking on him, and you know we could push some stuff on him. Elijah Muhammad gave us a lot of stuff to put on. I start putting it on him, and he said, "Get behind me Satan." I said, "Wait a minute." I said, "Wait a minute, brother." I said, "I'm still looking at you and you're turning your back to me." I said, "You are running, but I'm standing." I said, your book says, "Rebuke Satan and he'll run from you."
I said, "How come you can't chase me away? You are running." [Arabic] Praise be to Allah, Praise be to G-d. We thank G-d. G-d has done something special with a very peculiar people, made peculiar by this white world that took us and uprooted us from our people's traditions in Africa. We had to just take what was ever within our reach. We took the church and then got treated so bad by them in the church, we had to leave their church and go out and establish our own church. I think this is the AME Church, right? African Methodist Episcopalian church. You see how black man; you can tell he was desperate. African Methodist Episcopalian. Looked like he just could have stopped with African Methodist, but he said, "No, this is short changing us a little bit too. We need another one."
Thank you very much. Praise be to Allah. We ask Allah to contain us in what He has created us for. I ask him to imprison us if necessary in what He has created for us, and not let us be free to go about or on our own, with our little frail minds and thinking, seeking a future and seeking directions for ourselves in this most complicated world that has been made complicated by the Satan himself. As the Bible says, "The most subtle of the creatures in the earth. The wisest and most deceitful creature in the earth." I hope G-d protects us even if He has to keep us in prison, contain us until we are safe to go out on our own. Let us stay in Qur'an, let us stay in the life ways of Muhammad the prophet and his teachings. Obey Allah and obey his messenger [Arabic]. Obey Allah, G-d, and obey His messenger.
Whatever His messenger gives you accept it. G-d says whatever his messenger gives you accept it, let us not question a man that was already impeccable, that was already without human flaws. Had lived for 40 years among false idols and idol worshipers, and had retained the human mold that G-d created for Adam. Let's follow that man and love him more than we love our families. Love him more than we love our own selves, because he is our original self, par excellence. And G-d has said that he is a model for not only us Muslims, but for any who we believe in G-d and the last day. Mean any who believe in G-d and know that they're going to have to pay the bill one day, know that they're going to have to account for their behavior one day. That's what it means, and believe in the last day, not just believe in G-d, but also believe in [Arabic].
Believe also that one day whether in this body or after you are gone here, G-d says, he knows how to do something bigger than the mythical figure that says, "Shazam." That he could say it in like in a twinkling of an eye, a new creation is already here. Science tells us that all this is going to disappear, not only religion. Science says that the sun is dying. All these material bodies are dying. One day they will not be existing, and that day can come quicker than we think. Time in this mortal life seems slow, but who knows how fast that clock goes once you are dead and in your grave? That clock may spin around so fast, you will wake up as the scripture says, and you say, "It seemed that I only went to sleep for a night, and here I am before G-d. Having to answer for the way I lived the life He created me for."
Don't take these things lightly, and don't praise man too much. The secular world, especially those professors that you have in these colleges. They wrote the play religion cheat, "Oh, it's myth. It's not rational," etcetera. "It's based upon belief." Nobody has proven these things. Allah says, "Man, why don't you question your own self? Why don't you question your own creation?" Now, when you look at the scientific world and read what they give you, they have all of these great sciences supported by what? Theory. They can't prove it either. They have guessed it. They have said, this and this, and that and that, and this situation and that situation. When we come up after observing all of this, we conclude that there's a molecular order to matter.
They call it the Molecular Theory. There's a theory for what is the base reality for the material world and how it responds and how it operates. And they believing in it, a theory, can't prove it. They believing in it they have followed what it suggested, what the theory suggested. They have been able to discover atomic power. They have been able to discover many wonderful things. The prophets are no different than they are. Prophets are sign of what's coming later. Allah revealed to the prophets, and the prophets accepted upon faith. Allah says unless the righteous people they say we have heard a caller in the land calling to faith. And we return saying, "We have believed." Look what G-d did for those that Muhammad called to faith.
They responded and said to Muhammad, "We know you; we know you are not a liar. For 40 years before you got this idea, you have been an honorable man. We call you the trustworthy one [Arabic], and we call you the truthful [Arabic]. We know you don't lie." And they heard the call and they accepted the faith that he invited them to. Look what happened? Universities sprung up all over the middle east, Syria, Iraq, and in other places, Egypt sprung up universities by people who were not expected to even have an interest in higher education. These great things sprung up, and they became the torch bearers of civilization, and sparked the light to make a Renaissance, a revival of the dead mind of the rest. They came into a Renaissance themselves, and that is why we have all these modern sciences and all these great ideas today.
Who is really the leader of the new world? Take away its sins, take away its corruption, take away its violation of G-d's law, and Muhammad is their benefactor. Muhammad is their leader. He's a leader of the modern world, and that's our man. Don't let the Christian Church tell you, you don't have anything first they have a personal savior and you don't have a personal savior. Allah says that He's so close to us, He's closer to us than our own jugular vein, our own life vein. He says, "There's nothing between me and a servant who calls on me for help, not even a veil." Not even a thin partition, a thin cloth, separates that person from G-d. You tell me I don't have a personal G-d, and G-d says, [Arabic] G-d cautions you himself. Not through a priest. He cautions you himself, directly. [Arabic].
It is He Himself who cautions you, no priesthood in Islam. I know I had to come to me, don't make an Imam a priest, some of you all trying to make your Imam priests. They're not priests. You carry them, they don't carry you. They're only accepted in this position as long as they obey the Qur'an and obey Muhammad's teachings in his life. That's what qualifies them. Allah has obligated through Muhammad; He has obligated all of the believers to read the Qur'an and get familiar with it. He didn't say, "Well, there's some we know too much for him. Don't require all the people to read Qur'an." He excuses none of us. He requires all of us to read the Qur'an and get familiar with it. G-d requires all of us to know Muhammad and his life, to know how he led prayers. All of us are to qualify to lead prayers. All of us, to follow Muhammad's way [Arabic], and we are to qualify ourselves to lead prayer.
You should all be able to lead yourself at home in prayer, not just with us when you meet in congregation. You're required to lead your family in prayer, especially the males in the family. Or the oldest son in the family, if you have no father there. The son who qualifies for that job. Allah has not put this community life upon a sacred order, or upon a priesthood. He has put this community life upon the people. [Arabic] that's the saying in Islam. Allah's control is on the selected people. He doesn't control us through me or through any single person, but he obligates all of us to know what is Islam and what is not Islam, and his control is on the whole collective people, the whole collective body. Freedom Day, brother. Freedom Day, peace.
We ask Allah to forgive us our errors, to forgive us our ignorance, to forgive us our shortcoming, and to not let our house return to ignorance and corruption after he had guided us right. And save us from the fires of hell. Amin.
