Day of Religion

By Imam W. Deen Mohammed
The Day of Religion. I intend that this presentation that I'm gonna teach now, brings us to see and understand the Islamic concept of unity more and better. The Islamic concept of unity is termed, Tauhid, T-A-U-H-I-D they spell it most of time but for the help for pronouncing it correctly, T-A-U-H-E-E-D, Tauheed and in comes from the word and in Quranic and Arabic. After all these concepts were not with the Arabs before Islam only after the prophet. So they are Quranic terms, they are not Arabic terms, only they're Quranic Arabic terms. We have to put Quranic before Arabic or Quran Arabic terms. And Tauhid as I said means unity, but it means a little more than unity because there are other common words for unity, this is a particular word in revelation for unity and it is close to monotheism, the idea of one G-d ruling in the human life and over everything that exists as of the Jews. But it also has some tie to the Christian concept of G-d, not the plural body or the shield, that we call shield, not to that, but to the continuous line of purity and life that comes from our Creator and to the service of G-d to man.
0:02:55 How it comes and how we understand it and it resembles... Something of that in Christian doctrine or Christian theology and the purpose of presenting Tauhid in this connection, with the most important concept for the People of the Book is to show us our connectedness that we are not to see ourselves separate, completely separate from the movement and scripture from its beginning to its conclusion. And its conclusion brings us to the language, The Day of Religion. The Day of Religion, if we would translate yawm al-din, literally without interpreting it or translating it or interpreting it or applying it from some other language of guidance to Muslims in the Qur'an, we would translate the yawm al-din, The Day of Religion. The Day of Religion. But understand, I am addressing Tauhid, I'm proceeding to address Tauhid understand that din in Arabic is very closely associated with a word that means debt. If I have a debt to you... The word for debt is closely tied to the word din and that's the way we should understand the word Religion, in the Qur'an it refers to the debt of the creature to the Creator, we're indebted to the creator of everything in truth and man or mankind, for whatever we have of good use, our own lives and whatever is in his creation.
0:06:07 We're indebted to him, and that should be our most important view of man's relationship to G-d or with G-d. That man is created to be conscious and for his consciousness to reach to the far regions of the heavens and the earth. And the whole, the unity, or the logic, supporting matter, keeping matter's existence, and preserving its nature, or its performance, as G-d created, as G-d created it to be. So Tauhid begins with the observation, that not only Abraham made, but Abraham is the father of that, I would say, insight, it spread or has been given to mankind, and evolving eventually into, what we call, exact sciences and higher education, exact sciences and higher education. We believe in the unity of matter. The prophets observed that, prophets of old, they observed that, and have said, Abraham is the leader of all nations, or all... He is the father, meaning the leader, the first leader. And it continues, or proceeds, from that belief, or premise, that all matter comes under the same law, or the same universal law, or the same laws that are universal. So they are tied together by one logic, one consistent logic. It's true for one side of the earth, and true for the other side of the earth. It's true in your town, my town and towns across the water. It's true everywhere. That's universal logic, that truth stands up anywhere and everywhere.
0:09:13 Recently, we have heard in the news, publication, magazines, and on television discussions, that thinkers are saying now, that religion and science are coming together. Religion and science are coming together. But if you understand the Qur'an, it's clear in the Qur'an, that they have to come together. It's inevitable. They must come together, 'cause G-d's truth is one. He doesn't have a truth somewhere, and another truth at another place, that contradicts it. Or, a truth in one form of life, that contradicts the truth in another form of life. No, his truth is one. Meaning, wherever truth is, it agrees with other truths, it's not against other truths. So religion and science must come together. If religion is true and science is true, they must come together. And Allah says, "See, that this creation was once one continuous whole, before it was separated and made scattered." Science tells us that earth belongs to the sky. It's a member in the family of the heavenly bodies, or the sky bodies, the bodies in space. So science really tells us that heaven and earth are not truly separated. The earth, with it's nature, and it's movement and everything, it's elements and everything, belongs to the family of bodies in space.
0:11:17 I don't have a lot of time, I have a plane that I do wanna make. And I tend to just wanna stay with you all. I love you so much, I just wanna stay with you all. That's coming from my heart, not from my mind. [chuckle] If I let my mind come into play, I might say I hate some of you, but that's my heart. [laughter] And I thank G-d for making my heart stronger than my mind. My mind too strong... My mind too small, too small. My mind is too small for all that G-d puts on the mind. My heart has to take it, taking bad away, yes. Wonderful it is, and I'm wasting time. I have to get to the point, yeah. Tauhid, continuing with Tauhid, so this Tauhid is a logic, and it's a logic that influences all life, all matter and all life. This logic called Tauhid, it influences all matter and all life, human life, everything. Human life, more than anything else, because human life is free. That is the freedom of consciousness. The freedom of consciousness. So we are free to take our mind out of the small confines of our creative nature, into the nature of matter, the nature of energy. We could take ourselves to be this... Dive into everything that our minds can reach.
0:13:07 Study it, get information from it, and have our own life influenced by what we find, and if most of the time, if you're searching for truth, it increases your life. So it's like man and wife, isn't it? Mind and matter is like man and wife. When they have a relation where they have engagement and exchanges, matter imparts something to me and it situates my mind to respond to it, like breathing in and breathing out. It situates my mind to respond to it, and I respond to it, and as a result, both grows. Look how man has grown his mind over the long, long road of human history and civilization, and look how he has increased his imprint on matter and how he has changed the environment and done so much.
0:14:26 A bee can do a lot with pollen from the flowers, make honey. Get the wax it'll make a home. Nice home. They say, it's air-conditioned. I mean really. Scientists say the bee's house is... Home is air-conditioned. It never gets too hot in there for 'em. Temperature is regulated. This is science. They have great science. And that's why the bee is mentioned in the Qur'an, because the thinkers observed long ago that there's much beauty in science, a message from a sign of their life that we can take into our brains in our mind and improve our own life, how we perceive life, how we perceive ourselves. Alright, that's too much to talk about right now. Time won't allow it. But it is wonderful that the bee has an industry that speaks to us, speaks to the industrial man. Yeah. Sometime we should take that subject up.
0:15:39 But the bee is not the only one. Look how the birds, they make trees. Look how snow falls from the clouds or from the colder regions above, forming a solid, a kind of solid from a mist, from mist in the air. Look how they fall, and look at how beautiful their design is. Every one, every snowflake, so beautiful in design, so graphic, so artistically designed. So if we think of whatever is in matter, we can become fascinated if we are real thinkers. We can become so fascinated, we just love and enjoy observing the beauty, the art, the wonders of G-d's creation. And that's what has brought us to be the creators ourselves of man's world. And G-d says he is the best of creators, so man will not become so big-headed and forget who designed life and creation for man to have that great opportunity to become creator himself, a creator of his own world.
0:17:15 Yes. Tauhid, we're still talking about Tauhid. So first the idea of Tauhid comes from observing how the outer world looks and behaves. When Abraham saw how it looked to him, he was fascinated, but as he studied its behavior, he knew that it was not G-d, but some higher authority, and higher power had formed the world itself. That was a conclusion he came to. So he is a type or symbol, a type and symbol for the beginning of not only the belief in one G-d, but also for the beginning of the true sciences. Abraham. Allah says in the Qur'an, and it's in other scripture too, classical scriptures, "None can touch it but the purified ones." None can touch it but the purified ones. And then he sends Muhammad the prophet, the mercy to all people, all nations, all worlds. He sends him, and he sends him, he sends him, and says of him that he is a mercy to all the worlds, and he's sent to bond the people who have lost their true bonds that G-d gave them, in making them, in the making of them, or the creation of them.
0:19:14 The breaking of bonds brings about the enslavement of the human life. When you break your bond that G-d wants you to have with yourself first of all, with your true self first of all, and then with other people who have evolved human societies or human life and communities in other areas, when you break that bond, the Satan comes in quickly. And if he can't get you to break that bond, he contrives. He invents something to influence you to break the bonds. And in that way, he usurps your authority to govern your own life and family, and etcetera, and he make capital of your life and your existence. That's the Satan. So, continuing the line of logic, proceeding further with it, the idea of the unity of matter brought the thinkers and my new brothers, brothers, especially you, brother, because the physiology of the woman, she has to have a child, she has to enjoy her mate. She has children and really, she enjoys that more than anything else. And the man, too, should enjoy that more than anything else, enjoy children and the family. And eventually it brings us to have a public life.
0:21:09 The work comes from the house, from the home, and in time, the homes have to join each other, form bonds with each other. Bond as marriage, then bond as family, then bond as families. Families have to come together, and they come together, and they share in the one interest of providing for their life, eventually there's a public life. Streets to connect the smaller communities, businesses, bridge transportation, and transportation system, all of that evolved from human life, from human life, and the needs that G-d has clocked into human life, produced all that we see, that we call man's life and man's world. Yes, so these are sacred bonds and you lose those bonds, you give yourself into slavery. So we come now, we came now to the unity of man, the unity of the family of man, that we all are the same creation. And in Science, if you wanna study the human species, you have to accept firstly, that the human species are one life and one creation. When you go to a doctor to be treated for some serious illness, or sometime not so serious, the doctor, he got information that he has to rely upon, and it doesn't tell him too much about what nation you belong to. It doesn't tell him too much about what your color is. Black, White, brown, yellow, whatever. They give him a chart of your anatomy, and it's the anatomy of everybody.
0:23:30 Everybody has a heart, lungs, all those things in anatomy. And when you go to psychology, to psychologist, that's when it changes. So really, it's your mind that makes you so different. Huh? It's the way your mind is constituted that makes you so different, not the way your flesh is constituted. The man wants to know, "Hey. What?" He might ask you what's your blood type. "What's your blood type?" But that varies, that varies across all the other divisions, for a White man will have different blood type too. He will have the same kinda blood types that we have. It ain't no White blood type. There's no African blood type or a White blood type. There's just certain blood types that's common and universal, and universal. So there's a universal person, isn't it? There's the universal person, and actually all of us are universal persons in our true, in reality. We all are universal persons, but if we're raised up in different environments, now these different environments are gonna affect the way we think and behave. So when you have a problem of your mind or a problem of behavior, you go to the psych, and the psych claim, "What neighborhood do you come from? Where do you live?" [laughter] He wants some factors that he can study, that's in your environment, that may tell him what's happening to you. [chuckle] But those factors didn't exist when G-d formed us the first time. Those factors exist after the works of mankind.
0:25:30 Yes, so we believe like others believe in religion, especially the People of the Book, we believe that the human life is morally fated, morally fated. Things will contribute to you changing your life and changing in the life of society, many things. No need to need to number them there are so many, so many things, but to make it that's said in one lump, in one lump sum, it's environmental influences. Environmental conditions and influences. And we have the saying of the Prophet supporting that. Everyone is born Muslim, until the environment they're put in makes them otherwise. Oh, you think a Muslim is someone reading the Qur'an and doing veganism and following the rituals, etcetera, and going to Mecca for Hajj? No, that definition of Muslim is for all people, and that Muslim is Muslim by nature and Mecca, the discussion's strong in this vein. When the Christians say, "Christ within me," he's saying the same thing, whether they understand it or not, he's saying the same thing that we are saying when we say, every human being is born Muslim. Born Muslim.
0:27:18 They call it Christ, our language in Islam tells us it's Muslim. Now, their language comes from the ideas given them in Christianity. And our language comes to us from the ideas given us in Islam. Yes. From the ideas given us in Islam. So their term that they arrived at is Christ, Christian, and Christ within me. And ours is Abraham, Adam, Abraham, Muslim.
0:28:11 S?: Yes, sir.
0:28:15 In me, in my nature, in my original creation. And Christ is the innocence of human life. The soul, the mind, the thinking, the behavior. Innocence in human life. And Muslim is the same. Muslim is the same exactly. Muslim is the same. The word Christ, the meaning goes back to anointed. Anointed with oil. And that's why the contention is in the Bible, coming from leaders who differed as to whether Jesus was Christ or not. They say, "Are you the son of David?" Why David? Because David was anointed, it's plain in scripture that David was anointed. And he was anointed to be king. King. In other words, they saw him worthy of that title and that role. So they anointed him with oil. But he doesn't know the tradition has him being anointed by the people, with oil, but when David cries out in the Psalms or in the Zabur, the language found in the Qur'an, he's talking to G-d. And he says to G-d, "You anoint my head with oil and my cup runneth over." That means I have too much oil, you're giving more than I really need to use. But isn't that the way of G-d the creator?
0:30:08 S?: Yes, sir.
0:30:08 And Allah says in the Qur'an, he's the one who gives without counting. And you know when we give, we count it, don't we?
[laughter]
0:30:27 And I don't know if we'll finish this today, but I will try, and I promise we will continue next time somewhere else, maybe here, maybe somewhere else. If I don't finish, we'll continue it somewhere. Yes. So we believe in that innocence and the Prophet Muhammad, I repeat, people I tell you how often he said, "At one time in the future or in the end, the people will see Christ Jesus and himself together." Christ Jesus and himself together. And we know that Jesus said, I go away, I have to go away expediently I have to, quick, I have to do it in quick. It's expedient that I go away, for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you. And he says in other places, "And he will send you another Comforter." Yes. So we believe in Islam as students and scholars, we believe that that points to Muhammad the prophet. Prayers and peace be on him. But how does G-d connect Prophet Mohammed with the scriptures that came before? He says, he is the unlettered prophet, the unlettered prophet.
0:32:14 Mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel and they give the exact letter say, "He will come breaking the bonds that weighed down, crushed the people." I say he will break every bond, every unjust bond of servitude or slavery. This is not only addressing the slavery we know as a people where they put us physically on the plantation to control our life, our movements and everything. No, not the same. This refers to the enslavement of the faculties of human mind and soul. Denying you opportunities to really develop and enjoy the growth of your potential and your capacity, the capacity of your potential. This is the enslavement of the capacity of your potential. Confine your creative energies to a small space that cuts you off from roaming the universe, the earth and the universe with your intelligence. G-d created all of us to travel the earth and the universe with our minds, our conscience, our intelligence and with our hearts. Oh, yes.
0:34:14 Innocence in the spirit of humanity. This brings us to see a concept that's been presented in so many different languages and in so many different cultural ideas or cultural concepts. The child of common life essence, the common life essence, is by philosophical and also scientific logic, the child of the cosmos or the child of the universe. This spirit borne logic emerges upon a magnificent premise shared among the religious communities. Those communities believing in human innocence and in that innocence as it in inevitable product, an inevitable product, nothing is going to prevent it from becoming a product that everybody can see. Nothing is going to present it from bearing fruits. With the people of the book this inevitable product is termed the promised land, the promised land.
0:36:12 With the people of the Qur'an, this inevitable product is termed, the justly balanced community.
0:36:25 Ummatan wasatan is the Arabic for the justly balanced community. Humanity's unstoppable life, strengthened by humanity's most powerful, most powerful of the angelic mediums speaks through divine prophecy of truth pointing to the nations of mankind to present time for the day of religion. The day of religion, the conclusion for prophecy, the finality on the stage for triumphant global dynamics, humanity's social life spirit, engaging matter, economic interests, now puts common man and nations at the table that I would like to describe at the table as the table of the fifth dimension. Natural forces supported by global situated circumstances, the table that we calling now the table of the fifth dimension. Today, the global hour, for the arrival of transparency, this is new term among the religious leaders on high. For the arrival of... And he's down here with us now, when I first heard it, it was only among them. Transparency and opportunity for all eyes favoring the common people having a situation...
0:38:56 As the scripture say, for all eyes to see, favoring the people having a situation, for seeing the promised divine light of truth. A climatic moment for the completion and the social community dynamics that promote rational wholeness. Today, in this present generation's time, the hour on the global nature clock, and G-d said, "Wait until I bring my timepiece or my clock." This is the scripture. On the global nature clock, has the arrival or coming and appearing at not a rectangular or square table, but a round table. A round table. Today, you know we call ourselves soul brothers, we're all people of soul brothers. Today, soul brothers are favored by the circumstances that are forming because of globalization. This time is inviting all to sit together for the prophesied meeting in a global circle, like we have for Muslims who make pilgrimage. In a global circle, that permits us to sit face to face. If we sit in the circle like many of the devoted thinkers in Islam do, the men, if we sit in a circle, we see each other, we sit face to face. Those in the circle and look at each other's face, you can speak. And when you speak to the person, you look directly at them. So the circle concept for arrangement, bringing the sitters... Bringing the sitters to sit face to face.
0:41:56 In all shapes, forms and colors, soul folks are sitting at the table of the fifth dimension. And we can say while sitting at that table, in the new light, we can say, "We see our Savior transfigured." All eyes are opening now upon the promise sacred, soothing, comforting, yes, even cooling but fiery sunlight, fiery sun, a fiery sun but it doesn't burn, it doesn't hurt the eyes. You can look at it if you're blessed to be one of the innocent. You can look at it and it's so soothing. Finish, is that non-scientific sun. But we say to the non-scientific sun, as a sign, live on. At the crack of dawn, yesterday's savage world, yesterday's savage world, and its sun, appeared to be rising to the non-scientific mind, of a non-educated mind, appears to be rising and coming up out of the earth. Think about that. Appears to be rising and coming up out of the earth in the east or from the east. And then, it has a passover to the west. Yes. And when you look at it after it passes over from the west, when you look at it, it appears to be going down into the earth. If the scene for you is the ocean, it appears to be going down into the ocean. For the east... If the scene is the ocean or the lake, it appears to be rising up out of the ocean or the lake. Hence, the idea or concept in religion of life, death... A birth of life, death and resurrection, and resurrection, because you have to turn to the east, the place of his birth, to see it come up again.
0:45:07 Life, death and resurrection. There's much to say about this. But I'm gonna make it very short. Very short. Now the cosmic child, do you hear that language? I hope you make a notes and writing it, we're gonna give it to you in a DVD or something, CD or something, and maybe even transcribe it for you. So you'll be able to study it 'cause this needs studying. You need to look up words you don't know, be a good student. Good student will not be satisfied not knowing one word in what it was given. So the good student is given something, the student will not be comfortable till the student understand every word in the text or in a context. And will use the dictionary and try to get the best and increases vocabulary, his language and his knowledge. Huh?
0:46:14 S?: Yes, sir.
0:46:15 Yeah, that's a good student. Diligent student. So I have began with Tauhid and I brought you to the concept or to the idea of human innocence and how Allah blesses human innocence to rise and expand in mind, with mind and thought and interest to feed on the heavens and the earth, to feed on sky and earth. And if he feeds on sky and earth with his mind he is being increased in knowledge, increased in sensitivities, increased in human body. Yes. And what that body can do, right? He's being increased. He's growing as a person as though he's now in a womb of mother here. But this womb of mother is the universe. This womb of mother is a cosmos. So he is born a cosmos child. Yes. And what does Allah say in his scripture? Allah says, "And he provides for you, your food from the skies and from the earth."
0:47:57 Yes, he provides for you, your food from the skies and the earth. Now this is true by scientific history and inquiry but it's also true spiritually. Yes. They're always the counterpart, the two counterparts always go together. The material principal and the spiritual principal, they always go together. Isn't that something that should make us have great faith, that everything that G-d made material speaks to what he created for us spiritually, our soul and its nature and how it performed. Ah, you know, men go to schools of knowledge and religion and theology and study theology and metaphysics and all that. They go and study all this and they just... It's treated as though this is just knowledge, this is just history, this is just knowledge, this is just science, science of matter and spirit, it's science, knowledge and science. Something is missing.
0:49:25 S?: Yes, sir.
0:49:26 I'm the student of it. G-d has guided me to study it. I'm a student of it and I don't see it as just knowledge, I don't see it as just language, I don't see it as just logos. No, I see it as the evidence. That whoever formed, whatever, 'cause who is too small for my G-d? That whatever formed matter, rules in matter, stays with matter, is in matter, is in me. Because I see your matter speaking to my existence. Communicating to my existence and showing me myself in a much bigger and truer picture. Ah, so that increases my faith. Yes. And we are promised that it shall be seen, the truth, Heaven and hell, these things that we doubt or question, and argue over about, that they shall be seen with ayn-ul-yaqeen. Certain vision. There'll be no doubting, no one... You'll be so clear, there'll be no doubting, no guessing. Hmmm?
0:50:52 S?: That's right.
0:50:54 Ayn-ul-yaqeen. With certain vision, you shall see it in reality, that's the promise. You shall see these things with certain vision, you shall see them in reality and G-d promises... When they behold these things, they will say, "This resembles what we saw before." Praise be to Allah. It is a wonderful time that we're living in. Yes. So Allah, it is said of... Our G-d most high Allah that he created the human life firstly, in the heavens. Yes, and there was a disturbance in the heaven because one jinn who had performed as an angel and lost knowledge of his own creation or his own identity. He argued against man, the human. G-d revealed that he's gonna make a human. And put a human in the earth and give charge him with responsibility for his creation, a custodian, translation in the Qur'an, make him a custodian in the earth, one charged with responsibility for G-d's creation. And this one jinn, who was the leader of the angels and had forgotten that he was a jinn and not an angel. He disagreed. Now understand this, G-d is giving us a scene. Where to show us what's happen, what happened in his great creation. And the figures that are speaking are not speaking to G-d, because they can't. You can not speak to G-d directly.
0:53:16 So really Satan wasn't speaking to G-d directly. He was speaking to G-d in the mind of mankind and speaking to G-d in the mind of the angels. And G-d by way of theater, by way of this theater that he creates. G-d has Satan differing with him, speaking disrespectfully to G-d but it was only a theater. A theater of our own minds, attitudes, and behavior. Yes. So Satan said, "This man you made, this thing you're talking about. Given this great honor to and authority to on earth. You have made him of mud fashion into shape. And you made me of fire. A fire that gives up no smoke. I repent nothing. I'm perfect. I have nothing to repent." Oh, he's not the ordinary fire. He is fire that has no impurities. That's what he's saying. He is the fire that has no impurities, so no smoke. And that's when G-d showed us what that attitude does, it drops you from your high place. So he said, "Get you down into the earth, where you will find your needs, where you will come together and where you live, die, and be resurrected." That's what G-d said in Qur'an, and be resurrected.
0:55:33 So he cast them down Qubbat, Qubbat means as a fist, Qabda, Qubbat. He past them down as a fist. So what does that say? That attitude that was up there in the heavens called Satan is somewhere in these five fingers. Symbolically speaking he's somewhere in these a ritually, ritually speaking, he's somewhere in these five fingers because he said "Qubbat". Get down Qubbat as the fingers dropped pulling together to form a fist. Get down into the earth, Qubbat. And there you're going to have your test and experience these things that you hold to. But my world itself is a living creation. The universe is a living organism. You can't handle these high philosophical ideas, can you?
[laughter]
0:56:44 Well, you've been prepared to handle 'em. You just haven't been a student. What happened to you on the memory of your student enrollment.
[laughter]
0:56:56 You remain a student. Prophet Mohammad said to seek Education is for the believer of the Muslim from the cradle to the grave. When Allah created you he created you with a curious brain, a curious intellect, a curious mind, curious mind. So you're feeding on Allah's creation, on G-d's creation from birth to death. Now if you lose interest in learning and looking and understanding the wonders and beauty of G-d's creation. You are dead [laughter] you are dead. No matter how well you're doing on the job, at the factory or wherever, or at the store, the business no matter how well you're doing at home with your wife and the children. As the cosmic child, you are D-E-A-D.
[applause]
0:58:01 Yeah. Now all of us can't be equal children, some are superior to others. But once you are initiated and the soul opens for light to shine, you are a cosmic child. And you wanna find the sun or the light, that you should gravitate toward. So you will know your orbit, huh? Yeah. So I have to conclude now. But from now on, know that when Allah said that he formed the human being in the heavens, I mean, he created him in the heavens and then formed him in the earth, that that is true and rational and even supported by science. Yes, because your mind is what forms you after your body. The body is the flesh, only the vessel, only the instrument.
0:59:14 S?: That's right.
0:59:16 The bugle or whatever. The spirit in it, working with the intelligence, the brain, is you, that's you. That's your true self. The spirit inside the flesh working with the intelligence, that's your true self. And it gives you a mind and eyes to see and look. Allah knew your eyes would be limited. So he gave you the ability to grow scientifically and to benefit scientifically from his creation. So you come up with astronomy and you get your stronger lens so you can see better and further. I should say Father, but further and Father. [laughter] Yes, and everything you behold excites your mental curiosities. And eventually, somebody from your body go out there and investigate. Thank you very much.
1:00:34 Come into that mind and you're gonna grow in every way and you will go on to become a powerful and productive people on this planet Earth. As-salamu alaykum.
