First Sunday Lecture
Imam W. Deen Mohammed

Fard Nation of Islam

Some of you don't want me to address the issue that the Quran addresses as the major issue for the people of the Book. That is they say G-d is one of three. Mr. Fard introduced himself to the Hon. Elijah Muhammad and he thought he was Jesus Christ returned. That is what my father thought. He used to say when preaching that our savior is the Mahdi of the Muslims. Mahdi means the rightly guided one. The Mahdi of the Muslims Rashidun refers to the rightly guided khalifas. Mahdi is from huda. For example the phrase 'This book is guidance,' hudan lil mutaqeen. It conies from Huda, guidance. So the rightly guided is Mahdi from the word Huda or from Hada. Mahdi is the noun form for the verb to guide.

My father said Mr. Fard was the Mahdi of the Muslims and the Messiah or the Mahadiya he put it that way too sometimes. Instead of saying Mahdi he said Mahadiya which is from the same word meaning to guide. And he Messiah of the Christians. But Jews also expect a Messiah and they rejected Jesus Christ as Messiah. As far as I know they still believe in a Messiah to come. My father said he was the great expected one.

Mr. Fard's Picture Permitted Because Black Were Conditioned To Accept A White Man As G-D.

He gave us a picture of Mr. Fard and I know anywhere I would take that picture and ask any black person in my neighborhood or anywhere else and ask them, "What do you see when you look at this man? They would say a white man right away. They wouldn't hesitate. They don't know Indians and you can't tell he is an Indian either from that picture we had. You can't say he is an Indian.

Here is something coming into our life behind Jesus Christ and it is another white man, right? Why would he permit that? He permitted it because you were already conditioned to accept a white man as G-d. You had been accepting him all of the time. You had been accepting a white man all along as G-d. So this is nothing new for you. You would be able to accept that. It wouldn't be any problem for you. But he loaded the message with dynamite that would eventually blow that picture to pieces. Blow the picture completely out of existence.

the first stick of dynamite he used was who is G-d? G-d is the black man. That is what he told us. Did he tell us that because it is true? No. He told us that to counter something else we had been told, to get rid of that and eventually you become better and better educated. And understand this, he was not appealing to college level or university people, no! He was appealing to the lowest in the graduation scale for academic, formal education; those who had great problem writing a decent letter. We know this because we know the history of those early days in Detroit. They were not having even grade school education. The majority of them had not finished grade school. Staying in school and achieving was very difficult for our people in the 1930's or at that time. Change didn't come until around the late 1940's and 50's, but up until that time even in the north if you didn't have muscle, courage, drive, assertiveness, just go forward and push through the opposition they would discourage you pursuing higher education. Your teachers would do that.

Every now and then you would find a nice one who would take you under their arms, a white person and see a future in you and they would help you along like Frederic Douglass. He had a master who treated him very nice. This is way after slavery I'm talking about now the 1930's and 40's. He had a master and the master's wife they wanted to see a right minded person like that improve his knowledge and become learned. That doesn't happen that way all the time. He was fortunate. Most of the slaves didn't have that kind of circumstance they didn't have that kind of help. This society, it was hard to find in society teachers who would really take an interest in a black or African American student and help them pursue their potential or realize their capacity to learn and grow.

Fard appealed to the most uneducated and told my father not to even try to go to the educated. He said that they are nothing but blood suckers working with the white blood sucker. That is what he called them. Those are his words, not my words. That talented tenth, Du Bois, the professionals. He said that they were with the blood sucker and they were blood suckers too. They sucked the blood of their people; that is what Mr. Fard told my father. You see how long he (Elijah) preached, it wasn't until he had a material showing that some of the educated started coming around. They will come to money. They don't care how dumb you are. If you have money they will come to you.

Allah Wants Blacks Ruled By Social Intelligence

I just want you to know we have to understand our place in this world and how we have been used by our own people and by others. They have exploited our condition and they still exploit our condition. We're going to have to tack charge of our own life. Stop having our emotions, the sentimental nature rule us. We are going to have to be ruled the way Allah (swt) wants us to be ruled by social intelligence. We have to understand the nature of the social creature and the nature of the social environment. And we have to have interest in all human beings and you can have that in you strong if you first appreciate your own human creation and know the great possibilities you have as a human creation.

Quran 27.34; Kings conquer and despoil the noble persons
Daniel 7.13; Son of man came with the clouds
Isaiah 63.1; He comes with dyed garments
Malachi 3.8-9; You robbed me of this whole nation

WD Fard Taught Clara Muhammad Cooking For The Nation

I'm going to give you what Mr. Fard was giving us. I was a baby at that time but he was giving it to all of us. I'm going to give you what Mr. Fard, the teacher of my father who actually taught my mother how to cook what came to be the Nation of Islam's food. He actually worked in the kitchen with my mother, showing my mother how to make those dishes. Brown the rice and etc., and he also did it for my aunt Bernistine who passed away too, she was one of his secretaries. She passed away a couple of years ago in Detroit. Michigan.

This man I'm talking about he spoke in language that he called mathematical theology, this is written in the lessons by him. This can be proven. 1 know there are a lot of doubting Thomases in here and a lot of those who want to keep to the old way of thinking. But if you are here then understand this, I love you just the way you are, you haven't changed a bit. I know even though you hold those original ideas you are good people, you have good hearts, you mean well, you live good lives and I love you very much, but I wish you would accept the freedom that is here now.

He promised freedom, justice and equality, that is what he said Islam was and it used to be written, painted on the blackboard so that you could not erase it off. It had the American flag on one side and the Nation of Islam's flag on the other side and between the two flags it had the bad treatment we were getting back there. A black man hanging from a noose, from a rope on a tree limb. The letters on the Nation of Islam's flag were F.J.E. and on the staff of the flag was the letter I. And the letter" I" stood for Islam. That was to say to us in Islam you are promised freedom, justice and equality.

I remember the Hon. Elijah Muhammad in the earlier days when I was a pre-teen and a teenager whenever you walked in the Temple doors the first thing you would see if a speaker wasn't speaking would be that blackboard with that picture on it saying what I just gave you. And the Hon. Elijah Muhammad would hardly ever miss saying on Sunday when he gave his speeches, his talk or his message he would hardly ever miss saying that "Islam is freedom, justice and equality." That went into me as a boy and as a teenager and I knew, I was shown pictures of our people's actually lynching. My father saved a whole old (news)papers that showed actual lynching of our people hanging from a tree. One picture I remember seeing looked like to me it was at least five, but it might have been as many as seven or eight black men hanging from trees where they lynched them in a group. They lynched a number of them, not one person. I remember him giving me a picture, I don't like to tell you about it, I don't like to look at it. I don't like to think about it but I have to tell you because what I am going to bring before you it helps my, delivery, to make my delivery clear to you - then you see how I was affected as a child.

They had one picture of a black man hung on a tree and fire wood had been put up under him and the flames were burning him from the foot upwards. A child doesn't forget things like that. My parents made sure that I knew the bad treatment that our people got under white supremacist rule. They wanted to make sure I knew that and they made sure I knew that. Now here is a child knowing how bad his people are treated by the ruling people, the whites and he hears that Islam is freedom, justice and equality. What do you think he's going to remember? That Islam is a verse from the Quran? Or that Islam is a religion of the Muslims of the world? Or that Islam's Prophet is Muhammad the Prophet (pbuh)? Do you think he is going to remember that? No, he's going to remember Islam is freedom, justice and equality.

And it goes into the child so deeply and makes such a strong, indelible imprint that it lives with that child until death. I will live with that until death. Islam will always mean more to me as freedom, justice and equality than it means to me as anything else. And if it wasn't a true promise to the human soul of freedom, justice and equality, if G-d hadn't inspired and guided me to discover that is exactly what it is, a promise to the human soul of freedom, justice and equality, if He hadn't guided me to discover that I would not want anybody's Islam. This is Savior's Day, I'm giving you the Savior's Day message right now.

Blacks Shop For Another Identity Seeking Religion

The way that the world Muslims read the Quran to people, to me I might as well take Buddhism, I might as well take Christianity. I am not so impressed. I don't need a different identity. Some of you shop for another identity. Black, negro, or colored people is just too much for you, you want to get away from all of that. So you like to be called Muslim and you like to speak Arabic and you like to dress like people overseas. I don't need that and I love you just as you are but I don't need that. I need freedom, I need justice, I need equality. Equality of opportunity in this world.

Nation of Islam: Letter Required To Write Helped Persons Become Literate

Understand this stranger, and that is exactly what he was, a stranger. The people in the ghetto of Detroit, the poor, the most depressed areas of the ghetto that is where he came to. They were not educated. The average one had no education, hardly over grade school. Most of them, the great majority had under grade school education, - those who joined Mr. Fard. He designed a letter for you to be approved to come into the Nation of Islam, to be a member. He designed a letter to force you to practice handwriting.

Now that shows you how uneducated the people were. So he made them get interested in improving their hand writing by saying you cannot come in until you write this letter in a good hand so it is legible and can be read without any problems. So some of them had to send their letters many times before getting their letter approved. The first thing I'm addressing here is conditions in that time particular time.

We're talking about Detroit, Michigan. The area of Detroit, the poorest and worst off area in the black community. The condition: uneducated people, but sincere people, very religious people and a few very smart. In fact some of them belonged to the Masons, some of the brother in the early thirties joined Mr. Fard from the Masons. That language attracted the masons because they have a similar language and it attracted Eastern Stars, African American the black sisters who also belonged to a similar group

They are all similar. Masons, Eastern Star and the teachings of Mr. WD Fard. I'm sure that some others came in who were also from that same kind of language, but they were not Masons or Eastern Stars, they were something else. The Moorish American came in, a few joined Mr. Fard and the Hon. Elijah Muhammad in his time. And Moorish Americans have similar language. What they say on the surface or what the word says to the average mind is not the real meaning. The real meaning is what you get by translation or interpretation. That is the time we're talking about.

Blacks Are A People Stolen From G-d

Fard First Presented Himself As Professor

1 Thes. 5.2; Come as a thief in the night

"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night."

How did Mr. Fard present himself? He first presented himself as professor Fard, not as a prophet, not as G-d. This is history it is all documented. If I had to produce proof for this I can go get the document and show you. Right on top of the book it says, "Professor W D Fard." Sometimes he called himself W. F. Muhammad, sometimes he called himself W. D. Fard. Sometimes he called himself Wali Fard Muhammad, he spelled the letter "W" out. He referred to himself by different names.

Professor is a teacher, an educator, so this is how he introduced himself first. How is Jesus known? He is known as the righteous. The son of G-d and also the son of righteousness. And what is predicted of his coming? How is he going to come? As a thief in the night, he will come as a thief in the night. That means under the cover of darkness. Darkness will be hiding him. And how else is he coming? He's coming to punish the wicked, this is his second coming. What is he coming to steal? He's coming to steal a people from a world. He's justified to steal these people from the world because the world stole them from G-d.

I'm not saying what Mr. Fard is other than I'm saying to you that this is how he came and I'm not dealing with anything but what is real and recorded for him. So don't say, "He was wrong." If I'm wrong the writer is wrong. I am just saying what he said. Later I will be saying what the Hon. Elijah Muhammad said. And if I'm wrong the Hon. Elijah Muhammad is wrong. I don't lie. You should know that by now. I do not lie and I do not deceive. I'm not going to twist something and form it for my purpose. No, I'm going to give it to you just as it is or I won't give it to you at all.

The first thing we should look at is the time and circumstances during the early 1930's when Mr. Fard came. He came just on the heel of the great depression. So now not only the African Americans or blacks but everybody in America was suffering, it was a bad time. It was a very bad depression. Many rich people committed suicide during that time. They lost all their wealth. The banks had no money, they could not give them their money. This was recorded in newspapers. Old papers you can go and get them now, you could look this up. You can go and tell the Detroit Free Press. I bet they can look up all this and verify everything I'm saying that went into the public.

And some things that didn't go in the public went into the news about Mr. Fard because he had a confrontation with his followers and the police department, a violent confrontation. So they had to record what this thing was all about. So I'm not talking about something that is not recorded. It is recorded. We have to understand the time.

In those bad times there were African American leaders. There was W. E. B. DuBois who was trying to advance our people with respect for the system of the United States to advance them and pressure the government and people of America to admit African Americans or blacks into politics and into the system. That was mainly his role, W. E. B. Du Bois, a great leader. A very educated leader. The other one was, there were many but I am dealing with those who were working for freedom, right now. The other one was Booker T. Washington of Tuskegee college and University built by him with the help of his students, a great man too. They built the structure. You go down there right now the structure is still standing. You will see beautiful brick structures built by Booker T. Washington and his student who he was training in vocational knowledge, something that you can go and get a job with right away. Brick layers and other trades that he was giving them down there. In the religious focus we also had African American leaders and the one who is most outstanding, well I have to say two outstanding although the Christian was a much more in popularity than the Moorish American Muslim.

There was the Moorish American Muslim, Noble Drew Ali and there was the Christian Father Divine. Father Divine was very well-known by all American leaders and many common African-American or black folks. What was he saying? You have to see what was going on so that you will know Mr. Fard in that time and in mat environment. People respond and especially leaders or teachers to current issues, in the environment and current conditions in the environment. That is what they see, that is what they registered and that is what they respond to, that is what they address.

Father Divine Said To See Jesus Look At Me

Before Mr. Fard had some different view when Jesus Christ, Father Divine had a different view. Father Divine told his following, I am not quoting myself I am quoting reports that were published, Father Divine told his following, "If you want to see Jesus Christ look at me." And at the same time he was calling himself Father Divine. I do not think there was one earlier than him to bring the picture of Jesus as a black man to our people. I think Father Divine was the first. After him you know there were others. There are some right now they have pictures of Jesus as black. Christ is not a Jew or a white man. they picture him as a black man, happy hair and black skin.

Garvey Marcus Preached Back To Africa

Mr. Fard took his cue from what was happening already. One I missed I have to get him now from the Caribbean's, the Hon. Marcus Garvey, he was in that time too. Look at all of these things happening in the early 1930s. Marcus Garvey was in trying too. What was the preaching before Mr. Fard? Back to Africa. But he did not mean actually get on a boat or take some transportation and go to Africa, he meant bring your mind that to Africa. Put your mind back in Africa, don't buy the white man's picture of you, don't buy the white man's opinion of you as a people, to put your mind back in Africa. He was a great man too.

Fard Was From India

This is what was going on in Mr. Fard's time. Now to understand that Mr. Fard came from, he said the East and he did, but we were told that he came from Arabia and he did not. He came from India. His people in America were subjected and couldn't find anything but cheap, servant type jobs in this new World. His people. Indians. They came over here in such great numbers that they identified them, the press, the newspapers of America as East Indians. And I think they still identify them as East Indians.

These Armenians and we know now as Pakistanis, they are the same people. To do not think Pakistanis and Indians are different oversees in Asia, they are the exact same people. The only difference is one is a Muslim, to his religion is Al-Islam the other is Hindu, his region is Hinduism, that is the only difference. And do not think that the only Muslims over there are Pakistanis. There are almost 200 million Muslims who are Indians, not Pakistanis. They still belong to Indian and they call themselves Indians, not Pakistani, with the religion is Al-Islam, they are Muslim.

That is where professor Fard came from, he came from those people. He was not at all happy with the American people or especially with those who made America. America the white supremacist mind, he didn't care for them, he did not like them at all. Understand now, hear his people are they are working in the Caribbean's, they're working in America as indentured servants and they came from what was to be later in 1947 Pakistan, but that territory was all India during the early 1930s up to 1947. All those Muslims in the area was called Pakistan now were not called Pakistanis, they were just called Indians. They were under the rule of the British and they had to pretend to be servile and carry favors from the big whites of Europe, Britain. They had to be towards them like many of our uncle Toms had to be towards the establishment here to survive and get opportunities. So they had to pretend to be happy as servants.

Now Mr. Fard comes here with that hurt on his heart, of how his people were being treated in India. Then he comes here and sees the ones who came here or were imported here to be laborers and sees how they were treated. Then he looked at us in the ghetto and he sees our condition, don't you think he's going to sympathize with us? Sure he is, because he is our brother in suffering. How did be introduced himself to us? "Your brother from the East," these are his words exactly, that is his language. So he was our brother in suffering and he felt our suffering because he had felt the same treatment coming from the same white people. The white race.

Fard influenced by Father Divine's black Jesus

Fard said G-d is power and force

So he saw Father Divine dissatisfied with a white picture as G-d and presented himself as a black man as Jesus Christ and father Divine. Then he said, "I like this." So he said, "Who is the original man? Asiatic black man, Owner, maker, cream of the planet, father of civilization, G-d of the universe." I did not know so many of you survived, but what did he tell my father G-d was and my father told us? He said "G-d is power and force".That is exactly what he did. So here he comes and gives us a completely different meaning for G-d.

G-d for a Christian is One Who made everything. Creator, Maker of the worlds and I know for the ignorant masses in Christianity, uneducated masses in Christianity when you say G-d the first thought that comes to their mind is Jesus Christ, the picture and person as presented to them by the church. Do you think that I am supposed to like that, our ignorant people look at a white picture or a white man thinking that the very same people who gave us all of this hell and made our life most miserable over 200 and more years, do you think I'm supposed to like that? Do you think I'm supposed to go gingerly with that and touch it real nice and do not disturb the picture? Something is wrong with you.

Slavery Affected The Black Sensitivity, Soul, Fear Today

Kings Conquer And Despoil The Noble Persons

That is a crime, to do that to the minds and hearts of people, that is a major crime. To give them a picture of G-d in the image of the same people that gave them a life of misery worst in any life history has recorded. I am not talking about now I'm talking about back men, and we cannot forget that. If we do we are crazy. We are just absolutely stupid and messed up, almost insane and we don't care about our own people. Anybody who wants pretend that, that does not exist you do not care about your own people. You should never forget that. Not to hate anybody, but to know how you have been formed in the past. What influence the conditioning and the forming of your soul and your sensitivities, your feeling, your fears etc., you should want to know what happened in your past to make you the person in your soul sensitivity and spirit that you are today. That is more important than knowing that your face is black, that your flesh goes back to Africa. It is more important to know what has shaped something than the flesh. What has shaped your sensitivities. What has shaped your soul. What has shaped your hopes even. What has shaped your hopes. That bad condition formed our hopes. Hopes to be free of it. Hopes to sacrifice heavily to have our children better prepared so that maybe they will be able to live to see a better day and have an opportunity to grow free as human beings
with human minds and human intelligence in a new circumstance.

So if you don't want to now that, you are cut off from your own life. Savior's Day address in Home wood, not in Detroit, in Home wood. So we have to be aware of those times and the circumstances of that early time when Mr. Fard came in to help those that the world thought could never be helped. The world had written them off, they could never be any more than dumb brutes, lost minds and souls.

Fard is the Black man's savior: He separated, cleaned and reshaped blacks minds. So what is the issue for his time, Mr. Fard the early 1930's? What is the major issue? The major issue is helping a people that had been enslaved, separated from their history and their cultural roots and had nothing to depend on for their own future that could come into their hands. They had nothing at all to depend on. The could depend on nothing to take their future in their own hands and go forward because they had been cut off from the past. If you cut people off thoroughly from the past they will never be prepared to go into the future on their own unless you cause a revival among them, which means a change of mind. You have to cause a major change of mind for them where they separate themselves from what had their minds before completely. That is what Mr. Fard was able to do. Professor Fard was able to attract our people's mind and separate our minds completely from what was before, cleaning our minds and shaping our minds. And that was the white world and Christianity. So he separated us from those two things and in doing that he freed our minds to find self. That is what he did. So he was definitely our savior and he is our savior. He was our savior and he is our savior. And you can take this to your voodoo sheik from Pakistan or Egypt or wherever he's from.

You take it to him and you tell him that Wallace D Mohammed you don't have to say Imam. If he ask you who is Wallace D Mohammed? Say Imam Warith Ud Din, but you don't have to, just tell him Wallace said if you don't like it he knows why, because you are a party to the things that have hurt our life, and he doesn't care about what you feel or think. Now you know I wouldn't want them sitting out there and have me say these things with them sitting out there.

WD Mohammed: Brought You Understanding Of Quran And Sunnah

Someone might ask, "Is this in the Quran and sunnah?" You are not in the Quran and sunnah either. Someone might say, "The Imam has done his job brother. He has brought us to the Quran and sunnah." What are you talking about? I brought you to the Quran and sunnah, what do you mean? Is that what you see as my role and my work? I brought you to the Quran and sunnah? You had the Quran before me, the Hon. Elijah Muhammad gave you the Quran by Maulana Muhammad All you had it. You could have read it. There were books on the Prophet. The Hon. Elijah Muhammad had some in his private library in his home and he never told you that you couldn't read them. So what do you mean I brought you to the Quran and sunnah? You were already at the Quran and sunnah but you couldn't see anything. So why don't you admit that we had the Quran and couldn't get hardly anything out of it? We knew about the Prophet (pbuli) but we had not interest in searching for him and studying him to learn all about him. And it was my Imam or your Imam we should say or whatever, W D Mohammed who opened up these books and made them appealing to us. So he has been the one who translated language so we could read it as G-d intended for it to be read. That is what you should be saying. You should be ashamed of your jealous-hearted petty self.

We're looking at the early time period and those were the circumstances that helped Mr. Fard put his appeal together to appeal to the minds of the down and out of our people. He told my father, "Don't even worry about that ten percent, they are blood suckers working with the enemy." What did he mean by ten percent? He meant the educated blacks. Don't worry about them, don't be bothered with them.

Let's move time up. We come now to the change times when America is considering not only civil freedom, that was already considered before Mr. Fard came, Emancipation Proclamation, the physical freeing of blacks from plantation slavery, not that time period. Here comes another time of freeing, of America opening up giving more freedom to blacks. This is a time when America is being pressure to give blacks civil rights, equal opportunity, citizenship, legitimacy etc. Now in this time period the Hon. Elijah Muhammad comes out of prison, I'm not talking about the 1960's, W E. Du Bois, NAACP had been working for that for us for a long time.

Elijah Muhammad: Recalled Lessons And Emphasized Business

So the Hon. Elijah Muhammad comes out in 1947 after being in prison for five years and before that five year sentence __________________ so the whole time that he served in
prison may be more than five years. He got all this time alone, not to preach, he can't preach. So the Hon. Elijah Muhammad started to think and look into what Mr. Fard gave him and he came out and he said, "We've been in these little small places coming out with a Holy Quran or Bible under our arms and preaching to the people for a few hours and going back home to do nothing until time to go out again with the Bible and Holy Quran up under our arms preaching. We have to stop that. We have to make a material change in our environment. We have to do business, we have to grow business to attract our people. The old way won't get it."

That is what he told his ministers when he came out. He gave his attention to business development. This is a major change now for the interest, the focus of the Nation of Islam on what is our primary interest. What else did he do? He asked that all those lessons be brought in and that we not use them. And you know who have been around you were not able to read those lessons to the following for a long time. What did he say? He told his ministers, "Leave that to me," those are his exact words. So they weren't supposed to preach from the problem book any more like they used to do when I was a boy and a teenager. They used to preach from the lessons, the problem book, fourteen questions and answers, lesson C-l, problem book 1 and 2, that is what they used to use. I'm telling you they were in a world of Rosemary's babies.

The conclusions that we draw on that old first order of Muslim mind in the black community under the Hon. Elijah Muhammad or in the Nation of Islam as he, himself envisioned himself coming in the night as a thief in the night, coming in the clouds, riding the clouds of confusion of misunderstanding regarding truth in religion. He comes riding that. Riding that means he has the ability to handle those matters. He has the ability to handle those dark issues. Those secret issues. So he comes riding the clouds, this is the Bible of Jesus Christ.

And the language is known only to members of that secret order. So others read it and they don't know what it is talking about. Was this something new that Mr. Fard created? No. He was aware that this had be done in history. That this is a way of people who want to advance their cause in a hostile world, a world of enemies who are enemies to what they are trying to do. So they put it in a secret language so it won't be understood by the persons who would stop the work if they knew what was going on. There is a lot to be said here but we must keep moving on.

Lessons Removed Because It Held The Ministers Back

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad said put all those things away, why? Because those things were holding our attention and the ministers of the Nation of Islam, it was holding their attention and they couldn't do the work that needed to be done, the practical work that needed to be done. So this secret order had reached the end of its usefulness, so the Hon. Elijah Muhammad believed. We had to put it away so it would not be engaging and attracting our minds, and it is powerful for attracting the mind. Mr. Fard called it magnetism. He knew that it would attract the minds of people who needed to get free of things that were too big for them to handle. He knew it would attract their mind and his hope was that some of those attracted to it would follow it and search and come to see that there are hints all in it. Hints pointing to a future, that there is coming a time when you won't be having this and you won't be reading this, this is going to point you to your future. So it is a strategy.

It is a temporary vehicle for carrying you forward. It is a hidden vehicle for carrying you forward in a world that would stop it if they knew where you were going. There are those who tried to stop me when they knew where I was going. They were supporting me up until they were able to see where 1 was going. When they saw where I was going one of them trained in college to know religious language and also hidden religious language or secret religious language, when he saw where I was going and I was determined not to be put in the mold they wanted me in you know what he told me? "Go on and die." And I said nothing, he knew that was his last day under me unless I died. So he went away I never saw him, he never came back. I enquired of his whereabouts and his condition because I love him. He became a mail man carrying mail and he was a big official at the top under me. And now I here he is a mail carrier. That hearts your heart.

But he couldn't decide direction for me, no indeed. And I hid myself from them until I knew the following had caught on to what I was talking about or at least the magnetism had changed from the old magnetism of the lessons, problem book and whatever and the Hon. Elijah Muhammad's call for a nation. It had changed from that to the new language that I gave you in the beginning of my leadership. G-d blessed me to create a magnetism too and it held you. Man is mind. Words make people. I'm telling you, you swallowed it hook, line and sinker. And thank G-d I was able to pull the fish out of bad waters and transform the fish into a man so we could get our freedom on earth, praise be to Allah (swt).

Malcolm Joined The Nation of Islam

The 1940's brought changes. 1947 on a change in time. The Hon. Elijah Muhammad had changed his main message or interest in his message. Malcolm I came straight to the Hon. Elijah Muhammad's home, I saw him myself perhaps before his own relatives saw it. He came straight from prison to the Hon. Elijah Muhammad at his home in Chicago, you could tell he looked like he was straight from prison in good health, good spirit but look like he had been out of the sun for a long time. Fourteen years I think he was in prison. I don't know how much he served, but he served a good amount of that time he served in prison. He came to the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, but before he arrived the Hon. Elijah Muhammad told his family at home and I was in his presence when he said this, he said, "I got a young minister coming he's not going to be like these old ministers just satisfied to have the Holy Quran and the Bible up under their arm. He's coining and he's going to help me progress and build the nation." That is what the Hon. Elijah Muhammad said.

The Hon. Elijah Muhammad knew that he was attracted to Hon. Elijah Muhammad's new view point, new focus message. So he came out and he proved to be just what the
Hon. Elijah Muhammad said he would be. He was very productive, hard working and had a terrific spirit, that was Malcolm X later called Malcolm Shabazz the time changed. That was the early 1950's. By the 1906's there was a lot of trouble in the public life in the institutions, in the churches, colleges of our people manifest or seen in the public life. Demonstrations by our people and very brutal treatment from law enforcement in the South and also in the North. All this bad scene pushed a lot of the church people to black nationalism and to militancy. SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), the black panthers and others became very militant. What do you think influenced them? The teachings of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad, the Nation of Islam. So don't underestimate the value of the Nation of Islam in the life of our people. Also it was the Nation of Islam that influenced blacks to give more attention to material, to business and material growth and development. It was the Nation of Islam that had the greatest influence on that. Their leaders will tell you this in private, some of them will tell you openly in public, "Well it was the Nation of Islam that influenced me to change and be this way and do this thing like that.

Now we are living in a new time and changed time, a changed focus and a change registering in the mind and in the heart of what is important. So can't you see that the movement of Al-Islam as started in the African American community by Mr. Fard or professor Fard was something formed to go stage by stage? One language to take you to a stopping point I call a way station where you stay there and get yourself together to go from there to another point. And then the next point is also a way station. You go from way station to way station until you get home. Home to what? Tell me. Freedom, justice and equality that is the main point, not that you are going to be Muslim, not that you are going to be Arabs, that you are going to have what your soul called for. What slavery and
mistreatment under white supremacist America took away from and deprived you of.

Fard Came July 4th Is A Prophecy

You Robbed Me Of This Whole Nation

The right to stand on your own feet, be in your own mind and be able to question anything that exists, the white boss and everything else, even Jesus Christ as he is presented in the Bible. Be able to question everything with your own free mind, be independent on your own feet so you could come into your own independent leadership. And that is why he said he came July 4th. He did not come July 4th that is a prophecy that you are going to have just like this country. It celebrates its independence, if you follow my hidden guidance, you are going to eventually come to your independence where you will not be under the rule and influences of the white man's world and his thinking. And you will be able to with that free mind and independence you will be able to read the Quran and G-d will help you find the true Islam.

G-d has brought me by the hand of Mr. Fard, professor Fard is an instrument of G-d that is what I'm saying. Fard is an instrument of the All wise. All powerful, Most High G-d. and. He has brought me by the hand of professor Fard, our savior to the Bible and I read it and it opens up to me, all of it not part of it. He brought me to the Quran, it opens up to me, not part of it, all of it believe it or not.

Slavery Made Blacks A New People Because Of A New Mind

So what does G-d say in scripture? You have robbed a whole people. So if the world robs G-d of a whole people it obligates G-d to save and bring back, redeem a whole people. Non-Muslims are realizing that the leadership of the African American people, all of them is not in the leaders that the world knows, the leadership is in the teaching and spirit of the people, the following from the Hon. Elijah Muhammad to Imam W Deen Mohammed. Look G-d awakened this in my soul and in my psyche long before I came into this position. I looked at our people, I thought about our condition and I said to myself, 'We are a new people,' that is what I preached as a young minister. We are a new people, we are not the same people, we are not the people they brought over from Africa. We are not the people who were on the plantation, we are a new people. Those circumstances on the plantation separated us completely from the old life on the continent of Africa. And made it absolutely impossible to escape that we come into a new mind as a new people. Your mind is what makes you what you are and who you are, your mind. If you do not have a mind you are nobody.

So we came into a new mind, coming into a new mind makes us a new people. With a new mind, it brings you into a new spirit. It is a new mind that brings you into a new spirit. The new mind brings you into a new spirit brings you into a new perception of things. So we are an entirely new people. I stressed this when I was a young minister in my twenties and I'm stressing it to you now. Please think on what I'm saying and believe it if you can't understand it fully.

Lesson America Burn 610 Yrs And Cool Off 390

Now in my conclusion, things that are difficult to understand and believe me I know the language, I know what is more difficult to understand. The earth is going to burn, the white man's world for 610 years, that is after a shortage is made in the gravity. There will be a shortage in the gravity, in the air and it will set off or cause a fire and it will burn all over America for 610 years and it will take so long for it to cool off then people will be able to come back and inhabit, live on this land. But it is going to have to bum for 390 years and it will take 390 years to cool off. So all together a thousand years before the land can be used again by people. We all had to learn it I knew it, it has been so long ago. To tell you the truth I had my ears open for freedom, justice and equality more than I had my ears open for that.

610 Life Dead, Then Becomes Conscious

300 Means Spirit, Aspirations

What does this mean 610 years? Don't pay any attention to the zeros, look at six. G-d is said to have made the man on the sixth day. His making of the man was the correct making of the man, then the devil and the world wants to make him over, right? So it refers to the correct making or correct life that G-d wants for man. The six is also freedom for that life. That life is going to take 600 years. That means it is going to be dead in you for that period of time, but in the ten years it's going to be coming into the conscious after being dead for six long periods called the hundred years each. It is going to take 390 years to cool off. So it is going to get free but now it has to cool off taking 390 years. 300 is the spirit, your aspirations in the soul. They want to go, but they are going to be dead for three long periods called 300 years. Death in Arabic is hundred. The word hundred is a play on death

Al Hadith lp!43#247-8; Muieddid every- 100 yrs

Jonah 3.3; Jonah three day journey

Jonah Three Day Journey

390 years Means it has come into the conscience. 9 Means new birth. 0 Means it enters the conscience.

The Prophet (pbuh) said at the head of every hundred years there will come a reviver. So the hundred years is not a calendar hundred years, it means when life has gone from one to two zeros. Out of the consciousness and then out of the behavior, it has totally left you dead. So that is three hundred years and then 390 years it means it has come into the conscience. It comes into the freedom appetite or aspirations.

The 90 means new birth. But this new birth is just not nine it has a zero. That means the new birth is going to come into your conscience. What birth? The birth of a people. The birth of human life in its right state. The birth of a nation. Nine periods in the mother.

So its going to come into the conscience and it is going to progress the development until it is complete. Nine periods to birth life. That is what he is saying. It is going to need all that time to cool off. And what is cooling it off? Not an emphasis on freedom but an emphasis on bringing life back. Freedom movement in certain people it brings nothing but trouble because they don't have vision and direction. But when the interest stops being free for my freedom then it will start to be for my life, to get my life back and that is given as ninety, the life is going to come into the conscience. And isn't that what has cooled us off?

What did I start you off with on Stony Island avenue in Chicago as a young minister? Three stages of development. Much younger than I am now, about forty years old. Here recently I told like Jonah was spewed on the shore by the fish that swallowed him in the water and he got out there on the shore he said "I got a three day journey," that three is strong.

The life has to come into your sensitivity from your body that feels hurt and comfort, it feels hurt and feels relief etc. then from the body it has to come into your mind and your mind has to see it. As the scripture says 'Every eye shall see it.' Once your mind sees it, then your mind produces a new spirit. This is the life force coming from the reservoir into the body senses and then into the mind senses and then lastly producing a spirit to take us home.

Here we find in Grant Park. Muslims who just yesterday said that America was doomed. Said that the system was wicked. The leadership was a devil. The American flag was not the flag of stars and stripes, but the flag of scares and stripes. That community now marches with the American flag and holds it proudly. You tell me that this is not G-d's work. No man has been given the power to turn a people around in extreme to this extreme. I am often questioned, '"Chief, haven't you lost a lot of your old members?" And they don't believe me when I tell them No. I haven't lost a lot of the old members. We have a lost a lot of the members that came in between the old and the new. The old hung around too long and they saw what was happening when these people were not around. So they have seniority in knowledge of the history of the growth and development of this community.

Nation of Islam Converts 1960's Materially Motivated

Now there are those who came around in the 1960's. They don't represent this group. They represent that "In between group." When they came in, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad had already established the seed. He had planted the seed. It was well planted. It had been watered. When they came in, the harvest of one planting was being brought in. Not the whole seasonal crop, just one planting.

When they came along, they heard the talk of supermarkets, restaurants, farmland, paper plants. They came in when material growth was being harvested, and they thought that was all to the Nation of Islam under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. They thought that all mat was to it was getting money, getting wealth, getting black power and green power. They thought that, that was all to the message. "Black power and "green power." The pioneers, they knew better, those who came in the 1930, 31, 33, 34, 35, 1936, those who came in during the 40's and 50's, they know better. But those who came in during the time of Black Nationalism, Black Power and Green Power, they couldn't hear the secret message for hearing the rattling of dollars and black skin.

Someone might say, "Oh, can you really do that? Can you really take a man that is nothing now. Can you really do that. Can you take a man that is the leadership now, that is not even recognized in the leadership. A man that is down. Can you really do that? Can you really take him and put him over the leadership and the leadership accept him?" The Quran says, "I know that which you know not. We know as Muslims who read the Quran, we know what this is referring too. You know how to make the connection in the Quran. But I am talking about something that is not quite that profound. But never the less, profound. It says, Can one of these fellows here that is not known, one of these no named people come up and be the leader over these named, people. Never-the-less, I know that which you know not."

The strength of this community did not come in the sixties. It came in the thirties and in the forties, and in the fifties. It began to go down in the sixties. When the early seventies came, the true power of the Nation of Islam was almost impossible to find. What do I mean by true power? Respect for a Supreme Being in your life. Love for the brothers and the sisters. A desire of love for each other to share what we have with each other. Meekness, unity, a hate for materialist show. In the thirties, in the forties, in the fifties, if a Muslim saw you showing off material wealth, they would automatically come to a conclusion that you were not a true member of the Nation of Islam.

Nation of Islam Ministers And Super Fly

But something happened. And suddenly, in the leadership there were as many super flies as there were real ministers. And in time the leadership of the Nation of Islam became super fly leadership. People showing one face to the camera, and off the camera, they were taking money from dope business, from the narcotics business. Taking money from prostitution. Taking money from bank robbery.

I am not saying that this was the case for all of the ministers under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad during the 70's, but it was a problem that hurt and crippled all of us. No one could really live the life that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad wanted us to live for the pressure that was on us. For the heavy burden that war, on us. The burden of carrying people who didn't join the Honorable Elijah Muhammad for high morals, for unity and brotherhood. For equality of the brothers and the sisters. But people who joined the Honorable Elijah Muhammad so that they could show off their false sense of superiority under black skin. And to show off their ability to rob people, poor people of a bank roll. I use to see them peel the bankroll in die eyes of the poor people and let the money be seen, the pages of the bills slipping, and they let you see it. They use to show it off. Slap us in the face with that big bankroll. Where did they get the bankroll? They got it from the innocent, sincere supporter. Who supported the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, not because they wanted to be wealthy, but because they thought that was what G-d wanted them to do?

There were many sincere ones who came to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad because they felt that this man who asked us to come to a virtuous life. Who asked us to come to high morals. Who asked us to put down filth and un-cleanliness? Who asked us to throw out cigarettes, wine bottles? Throw away the liquor and throw out the pig. They said, "This man who is asking us to clean up our life. This man who says, 'No, you can't come to G-d with crime on you,, You can't come to G-d with taint on your hands. You can't come in with filth. This man must be surely from G-d. This man who comes out and is not afraid to say 'that evil is evil no matter what where it be. This man who says that the Caucasian man is evil, that his nation is evil, his race is evil. His rule is evil, his rule is wicked. This Caucasian race is a race of devils. This man must be a man of G-d."

Those people were converted because they believed in G-d. They believed that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad couldn't say those things unless G-d inspired him to say those things. And that is why they accepted the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. It is not simply because they wanted to be black and proud. It was because they wanted to be black and proud, and they wanted to be a follower of G-d. They wanted to be a believer in G-d. They wanted to follow G-d's way. : And the Honorable Elijah Muhammad demanding that they stand on a high moral plane. Demanding that they clean up themselves. Demanding that they stand up against all evil, even though it be eating the pig that Christianity says is okay. Even though it be whiskey that Christianity, says was okay. Even though It be cigarettes that Christianity said was okay. Even though it be the white man that Christianity said is okay. Stand up against it if it is wrong.

Those people came to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad because they believed that man could not be mat bold ~ could not be that independent ~ could not be that truthful in pointing out evils without G-d inspiring him. That is why they came to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

E. Muhammad Used Materialism And Truth

Why have I said all of that? To explain to you my success. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad baited, people with materialism, but he also baited them with truth. He used both. He used the bait of materialism for those who wanted materialism, what did he say. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, "Come follow me. That I have been told that if you follow me, the G-d mat missioned me, he would give you plenty of money, good homes, friendship in all walks of life." Now wasn't that a powerful bait? Who needed money anymore than we needed it? Who needed good homes more than we did? Who was shut out from friendship and societies of the world any more than we were? That was our problem.

That was our hunger. We hungered for identity. For a place with societies of the world. We didn't have a place in Africa. And we didn't have a place in America. Africa had lost us, and we had really lost them. The image that we were given of Africa made us feel that we were too big, too proud, too civilized, too American, too good for Africa.

1950, 1940 and 1930 people, they understand what I am talking about. You boys, you have to come and listen to us for awhile before you understand. All they know is 'Sesame Street.' I know the street before Sesame Street. They had no place in any nation. No place in Arabia. No place in Africa. No place in Asia and no place in America where we were being born, reared and bred like cows, and mules and dogs, donkeys. We had no place. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad knew the hunger. He knew that there were a people, if you gave them a place, they would give you their all.

Great Pain Causes Loss Consciousness Or Death

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad said, Look, nobody wanted you. Allah swt and I want you. I used to listen to him. Man Im telling you, He said, Allah swt and I want you. We are going to give you back your own. Your own name. Your own identity. You are no Negro. You are no colored man. You are the Asiatic black man. He said you are the owner, the maker, the cream of the planet earth. The father of civilization, the G-d of the universe. They said, I knew that the white man was hiding something from me. Im the owner, the maker, the cream of the planet earth, and the father of civilization, and the G-d of the universe. Good G-d Almighty. Thank Allah, praise G-d for the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

We didn't care how big mat lie was, as long as it fed the hunger. The man went on back out of the Temple after hearing that powerful message from the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, he went on back out of the Temple and went back to the coal yard and he shoveled coal for the Caucasian man. Or he went on back and got his pushcart. See you all don't remember that, but I do. And he pushed his pushcart, picking up his trash or selling his apples and his greens, but who was pushing the cart. It was the owner, the maker, the cream of the planet earth, the father of civilization and G-d of the universe. He said, "White man, you don't bother me no more I got me a narcotic as strong as yours. Wasn't that Divine. You know when people suffer pain to extreme after extreme, Almighty, G-d is so merciful that He either causes them to lose consciousness or to die. G-d will not let us suffer pain forever.

Yakub History Narcotic For Black History Pain

Now we know that death is not the real G-d for people. Life is the real G-d for people. But isn't this sometimes a mercy? You who have been resurrected for the second time, wasn't the first life that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad gave you, wasn't that life a kind of death? Wasn't it a powerful drug that took away the pain of life that made it possible for you exist? But did it open the way to life? No, no. It only, gave you a promise. Just like the graveyard, it takes us away from the pain of life, and it promises us a future life. But the graveyard does not give us future life. The graveyard gives us decay and if G-d comes and puts life again in the essence, there will be life. But the graveyard offers no life. Yakubs history was a graveyard that gave us the promise. It was a narcotic that took away the pain of life. It made us feel that the devil was gone; he wouldnt bother us anymore. That this is a resurrection indeed. This is the resurrection indeed.

Dear beloved people, now we have a chance. Almighty G-d is on our side. Almighty G-d, through His mercy has evolved us just as the Hebrews were evolved. Moses told the Hebrews who were in bondage under Pharaoh and his people, he said, "Follow me, and I will lead you to a Land flowing with milk and honey." When those people got away from Egypt, away from the material comforts that were in Egypt, out there in the desert, they began to grumble saying, "Moses, we don't know whether we made the right decision or not." Some of them told Moses, "Slavery in Egypt, bondage in Egypt was better than freedom in this, wilderness with you Moses. In Egypt, we had plenty of food. We had garlic and onions and lentils. We had meat and soup and all of these things.- Moses, you bring us out here and you call this freedom, this emancipation, but in bondage we had many foods. A variety of foods. Pharaoh gave us material things. You are offering us nothing. You are starving us out here."

Didn't you come through that same history. Look how many left the Honorable Elijah Muhammad because the walk in the wilderness was longer than they thought it would be. Let me show you the parallel so that you will see that though you didn't have the light of G-d under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, you had the darkness of its symbolisms. Nevertheless, G-d's hand was on the community of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. His hand was on that community. Let me show You the parallel, and I hope you enjoy the knowledge. Enjoy seeing the revelation as I do.

Many NOI Members Left Elijah Muhammad In 1936

They grumbled because the road, the route, trip was too long. They wanted to get the material things right away. In 1936 people left the Honorable Elijah Muhammad by the thousands. Just a very few held on to the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Dr. Fard Muhammad, also called Professor Fard Muhammad, that man, when he left in 1934, the people lost faith and the majority of the followers left the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Those that held on, many of them couldn't hold on for long because they were impatient. They wanted the material comforts right away. They began to leave, and yearly, they were leaving. Members from outside of his own relatives and members from his own blood relatives. His own mother left him. His own father left him. Some of his brothers, in fact, the majority of his own flesh and blood left him.

His own flesh and blood sisters mat had joined professor Fard Muhammad, they also left him, because they couldn't see things coming fast enough for them. But a very few faithful, and right here today, there is a woman that came in during the years of the early 30's when Dr. Fard Muhammad himself was teaching. She herself saw Dr. Fard Muhammad face to face. She shook his physical hand. This sister please stand, of Detroit Michigan. She knew professor Fard Muhammad, also called Dr. Fard Muhammad also called by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Allah in the person. She saw him face to face. She shook his hand. She knew him as you know me, as you have known me face to face. Sister who do you follow today? Tell these people. (Affirmative) She said she follows me. I follow the Quran. I follow the word of G-d that Professor Fard Muhammad held above himself. I follow the Qur'an that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad held above himself. I know that I am on the right path. You are my strongest proof that I am on the right path.

When the people managed to make it across the wilderness to the mountain again they began to grumble. Moses went up into the mountain to get some directions for himself and his people from G-d, but they were too impatient, saying. "Oh, look, forget about Moses. He is up there doing his thing. He has been up there a long time. Most likely he has forgotten about us. You know how drunk and silly he is over his G-d. He is up there doing his thing. Moses lives on inspiration. We are not Moses. We have to live on bread, water, meat, garlic, onions, lentils. Look, in Egypt we were doing well." Isn't that what some of you say to me today.

I know the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said that when he goes, that there would be no successor. "I understand what you mean now Chief when you say that you are not his successor.

That his day and his is a closed book. I understand that Chief and this is a new time, and a new world. 'But Chief, under the Honorable Elijah Muhammad we were doing better. What about our fish program? What about our Muhammad Speaks program? What about the imports? Chief, you live off of inspiration, but we want some lentils, onions, garlic and soap, beans, ecetera."

Show Us God Manifest, Black God

Q.2.55; show us G-d manifest in public

They said. "Oh Moses. We are tired of waiting on this G-d. Who is this G-d. I have to see Him face to face. Look, you can't jive us any longer." They kept making demands behind the man. They finally made the most sinful demand of all. As the Quran says. "There are people who did a great sinful thing." What did they ask? They said, "Moses, show us G-d in the physical body. Face to face. Show us G-d in public among us like you are seeing Him." G-d said, "They ask the greatest sin of all." They became so materialistic, that they demanded that they would not accept G-d unless He could be in material form.

Golden Calf Made Materialistic

Q. 2.54; Golden calf

Haven't you come through those same stages? You see the perfect parallel? Many of you ask the same thing. "Chief, you are telling us that what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said is symbolic? We believe in you. We are not going to accept you. We have to see G-d as a flesh and blood man." Saying, "Oh, forget about the Chief. Aaron, make for us the golden calf. We ain't going to wait for Moses. A man leading us out of rich Egypt into a land filled with milk and honey, and all we are finding is hardship. Okay Aaron, we can't wait any longer. Make us the golden calf, the false G-d of Pharaoh." Isn't that what they say? And Aaron the priest made for them the false god of gold.

When I found you, weren't you in the hands of Aaron? The religious leadership of the then Nation of Islam, hadn't they came down from the high moral and spiritual pinnacle that you were called to. They refused to look to that anymore. Didn't they ask the leadership, "Give us the golden calf: We want to worship the golden calf. Let's have a party. Let's worship the golden calf and have a party." When I came into office, didn't I find a golden calf as your god? And didn't I find you in a filthy and obscene orgy? I am a witness and you are a witness.
